Fushiguro stood there, his eyes wide as he registered the sight in front of him. (Y/N) was holding onto Gojo, her breath hitching as she sobbed uncontrollably. He never thought he'd see (Y/N) cry. He hadn't ever even considered the possibility of Gojo getting killed. And now, he had caused both...
He hesitantly took a few steps forward and hearing the sound, (Y/N) lifted her head to look up.
"Megumi?" she whispered as their eyes met.
"I'm so sorry.." the boy said so quietly it was barely audible.
As soon as she heard his voice, (Y/N) grabbed his arm and pulled him down into an embrace.
"It's you..."
Those words instantly made Fushiguro's eyes well up as he tightened his arms around her. Unfortunately, it wasn't long before (Y/N) was dragged away, as the other sorcerers waited to see if Sukuna would take over the boy's body again. To their dismay, he did and Hajime Kashimo came in right away for the fight to continue.
......
Shoko glanced at her friend whose eyes were still red from crying. She had barely spoken since she came back and had been staring blankly at the screens from which they could see the fight. No one had really initiated conversation with her, since they weren't sure what to say. After a while, Shoko tugged on (Y/N)'s sleeve and pulled her aside, away from the other sorcerers.
"You should save Kugisaki." she said.
(Y/N) frowned.
"Don't look at me like that." Shoko chuckled. "I mean it."
"Why the change of heart?"
"You deserve to be happy too. So if that's what you want, go ahead." she replied. "But can you promise that we'll spend time together during the time you'll have left?"
"I promise." the (H/C)-haired sorcerer said. "I need to ask you a favor though."
"What is it?"
"You'll need to put your surgery skills into use."
......
After the two of them left, (Y/N) went to get the book and Nobara before heading to Shoko's operating room to perform the ritual.
"(F/N)?" the doctor called out hesitantly.
"I'm alive, don't worry." the other replied from behind a curtain that separated the room in two.
"Did it work?"
"She's not awake yet, but it says it might take a while." (Y/N) replied, walking into view. "And I can feel the change. Let's do the surgery now, just in case she wakes up sooner than expected."
The brown-haired woman nodded, preparing her tools as her friend lay down on the table.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" she asked.
"Go ahead." the (H/C)-haired woman smiled.
Shoko sighed, then put on gloves before walking over to a spot where she could easily reach (Y/N)'s left eye.
......
"Why are you so stressed out?" (Y/N) asked Nitta, suddenly appearing beside him. "We know you can't use reverse curse technique. And even if you could I don't think you'd be able to heal this."
"(F/N)?" Okkotsu glanced at her. "What happened to your eye?"
"You're not in a state to worry about anyone else idiot." she said, scanning over his injuries. "Can't heal yourself?"
"Unfortunately not." he replied with a hint of a smile. "I'm holding on thanks to Rika, but I'm reaching my limit. I'm going to do it. It's our only choice."
"We've stitched up Gojo's body, but once you swap you'll need to use a maximum output of cursed technique to finish the treatment." Shoko explained to which the boy nodded.
"Sadly, I wasn't there when you proposed the idea, but I heard you got pretty pissed." (Y/N) said, trying her best to smile. "Thank you for caring about Satoru and the fact that people always saw him as a monster."
"You ended up helping him kill the higher-ups, right?" Okkotsu remarked. "I see why he loved you so much."
She looked away as he switched into Gojo's body and used reverse curse technique like he was told before making his way back to the fight.
"I thought you'd try to talk him out of it." Shoko said after the student left. "Since I thought you didn't like this plan."
"I don't like the fact that Satoru remains a tool even after he dies. It makes me wonder how many people genuinely cared for him." the (H/C)-haired woman replied. "But Yuta never had ill intents, he saw him as a person. He stepped up because no one wanted to become the new monster if Satoru were to die."
"You're okay with seeing Gojo back?" her friend asked curiously.
"He's not back." (Y/N) answered simply. "Just like how Suguru wasn't back when Kenjaku appeared. But seeing his body being used does make me feel like crying if that's what you mean. So I guess I'm not okay with it, I just don't blame Yuta. And there's not much I can really do."
