Chapter 32

Deep in the mountains that the crew made base at was were Ezra and Sabine trained in exchanging blocked strikes and clever misdirections "hey, when are you going to teach me how to use that ice, and green power?" Sabine asked curiously striking up a conversation in the middle of the spar "first of all it's like ice not ice, second of all that, is something I can't teach you to use, it is extremely difficult and you would need to visit the Milky Way system to start." The hunter informed catching a clever throwing knife coming for his leg "I see any tips for using the arc staff?" She asked jumping over a leg sweep "don't hit yourself with it, I made that mistake and got disintegrated for my troubles." Ezra said grabbing the mando's left arm pulling her to him not expecting her to tackle him to the ground where she maneuvered herself so that she sat on his chest keeping him pinned "checkmate." She said with a smirk making the hunter chuckle "nice you're getting better." Ezra said looking at his watch "well that's that lesson dealt with, time to get back to work." He said patting her thigh making Sabine pout looking down to the man "aww, already was hoping I could keep you here for awhile." She said teasingly before getting off before holding out a hand to help the man to his feet "me too but duty calls." Ezra said taking the hand she offered rolling his head before going to the makeshift command center she followed him there.

A little later

Sabine was working on an old transmitter she found as Ezra watched and helped when he was needed Kanan walked to the two the hunter looked to the Jedi and nodded "this transmitter is all we could scrounge up. What do you think?" Ezra asked the mando who shrugged "well, I can boost the power, but even with Geralt or Sam's help not quite enough to overcome the empire's jamming signal. They're blocking all non-imperial transmissions." Sabine informed making the Jedi nod "we need to find a way to make contact with Hera." Kanan said scratching his chin "if she made it past the blockade." Ryder added making the hunter groan "such a pessimist Ryder." He joked as Kanan looked to him "she made it. And she'll convince rebel command to launch an attack. We need to be ready to help." Kanan said making Ryder look at him with a raised brow "help? Look, I want to fight, but the empire's got thousands of troops. We are hiding in a cave with no ships, no supplies, and a couple of blasters." He said making Ezra nod "good makes it a fair fight." Ezra said with a smirk "besides we've done a lot more with a lot less." Sabine added "exactly, there's a way, and we'll find it." Ezra said with a face of determination Ryder looked to the hunter skeptically as the transmitter starting making a squealing noise "what now?" Zeb asked annoyed at the luck they were having "I can't contact outside the planet, but I'm picking up something transmitting nearby." Sabine said looking to Kanan "how close?" He asked "close enough to take a look." The mando said making Ryder nod "better check it out." He said turning to the exit of the cave as the transmission made some warbling noises and the crew followed.

Timeskip

The crew stopped near enough to the coordinates to stay hidden looking on a strange vehicle to the hunter it looked like a hive tomb ship "there. It's a ore crawler." Ryder called out "pretty sure I saw some of those burning through the grasslands up north." Ezra said looking at it closely with his helmet's zoom function "yeah, they strip rake the surface for raw materials to feed the imperial factory." Ryder informed "and they've burned all the way down here? That's halfway across the planet." Ezra said noting this information "yeah, but that ship might be just what we need." Zeb said making Sabine chuckle "you might be more right than you know, Zeb. That crawler is equipped with a long-range communications array." She said the hunter turned to her "one that can reach Hera?" He asked making Sabine turn to him "I'm almost sure of it Ez." She said making the hunter smirk beneath his helm as they went back to the speeder.

The speeder got close to the crawler and Sabine waited on standby "Sabine, you're up." Kanan said giving her the signal the mando nodded jumping and using her jetpack to fly close to the ship perching herself nearby to get intel on movement patterns "I've got movement." She said looking through the smoke to see a droid "yep, mining guild security droid." Sabine said flying towards the walk way behind the droid firing an electric charge from her vambrace disabling the droid before running to it catching it from falling and making a loud thump before throwing it over the edge of the crawler, the speeder flew up next to her letting Zeb, Ezra, and Kanan depart onto the ship where they promptly began moving forward. Just as that happened the door opened behind her over on another catwalk pulling out her blaster she shot a hole into the droid before flying up into the air stopping near the ladder the crew was using to get up to the control room. When they made it they made a move for the small room controlling the ship the door opened and Ezra gambler's dodged inside aiming his Last Word ahead  he heard some kind of humming raising a brow he made a 'round up' motion with his finger crouch walking to the noise seeing a reptilian creature listening to music with it's eyes closed the crew stood around him Zeb looked to the hunter before getting a hand onto the alien's headphones "I like that song." He said into the drivers ear making it panic before he pulled it out of it's seat holding the reptile by his shoulder "hello, there pal." Ezra said as the creature looked to him "pirate scum." The creature said voice filled with venom making the hunter tsk "I prefer the term Privateer it sounds more dignified don't y'all agree?" Ezra asked looking to his crew who nodded the creature immediately shot to his wrist computer pressing a button making the alarm go off. The ship slowly descended as alarms blared "Sabine, shut off that alarm." Kanan ordered making the mando nod and move to the console where she attempted to do as he asked Zeb held the reptile creature before he was elbowed dropping his grip the alien took full advantage first crawling onto the back of the lasat before jumping towards Ezra the hunter took a swing punching the reptile creature with an arc charged fist knocking it out "stick around, Captain." He joked as Zeb grabbed the alien by it's body holding the creature tight as the alarms shut off Ezra looked to the wrist computer grabbing a hold of it taking the beeping part off before tossing it to the ground and stomping on it. The creature exhaled "do you have any idea who you're messing with?" It asked looking to Ezra who tipped his hat "the Mining Guild, we know." He said as the comm crackled to life "Guild control to Crawler 413-24. You've activated your distress beacon and ceased output. Is there a problem?" The man over the comm asked making Sabine and Ezra share a look "do you copy? Over." The transmission finished "ha! You're done, thieving scoundrels." The reptile said again struggling against the lasat's arms "Guild control to Crawler 413-24. Respond immediately." The man on the other side said "yes, respond." The creature in Zeb's arms said "we better come up with something." Sabine said making Kanan look to the hunter "Ezra, this one's all you." He said making Ezra roll his head and crack his knuckles "be my guest, my king." Sabine joked with a bow making the hunter scoff as he readied himself holding his throat to make it raspy enough to imitate the reptile "sorry. The crawler has malfunctioned." The hunter said with a hiss making the retile in Zeb's hands gasp "is that what I sound like?" It said making Sabine and Kanan sigh as Zeb clasped his mouth close "is this Operator 94-34? You sound different." The man on the other-side said making Ezra wince "uh, I'm sick." He said before the reptile got free of Zeb's hand "Pirates! Help!" He shouted making Ezra turn to the man putting a finger up in a shhh manner "Crawler 413-24, repeat." The comm operator said "Sorry. Engine flare. Part if the malfunction. We're fixing it." Ezra said as the creature struggled harder from the Lasat's arms "liars! Liars!" He shouted before he was knocked unconscious by Zeb "we are sending a technical crew over to assist. Stand by." The comms operator said making Ezra's eyes dart around "uh, negative, control. We can make the repairs ourselves. Do you copy? Over." He said waiting a sec for a response he sighed clearing his voice "well, that could of gone better." Ezra said looking back as he scratched the back of his head "I thought it was pretty good." Zeb said carrying the captain over "just make sure the captain stays quiet and let's get to work. We don't have much time." Kanan said as Sabine went back to the controls she gave a sigh as she looked over the comm unit "well, this comm unit's older than I thought. It may take a while to boost this thing's power enough to beam out a long-range transmission." She explained Geralt took this chance to appear next to her scanning the console which beeped "that's weird. Someone activated the inter-vehicle comm. there's a signal coming from the rear section of the crawler." She added looking back to the crew "Zeb and I will check it out. As soon as Sabine gets that comm working, contact Hera. And watch him." Kanan ordered pointing to the lizard creature that fell to the floor as Zeb dropped him and followed Kanan Ezra sighed walking over to the unconscious reptile "got any rope?" The hunter asked with a tilt of his head.
