The next day a small blaring noise from the intercom woke everyone in the Z room, including myself. My green eyes opened in exhaustion, seeing the boys across the room bear similar expressions. I had chosen to sleep along the wall far away from them so nothing sus would happen in my sleep. The sleeping bags had been reasonably comfortable, but I still wished for a bed.
The next couple of days were filled with fitness tests that Ego said he was going to use to further evaluate our skills. That obviously put me at a disadvantage. I was short and a female. Standing next to the massive physique of Kunigami made me look like a shrimp. But I wouldn't let it get in my way. It was just another obstacle for me to hurtle.
So I lifted weights. I stretched my muscles. I ran as fast as I could for as long as I could on the treadmill. I jumped as high as I could. I did push ups. I put in 110%. There was a clear gap in my physical abilities though. And some punk ass bitch named Raichi liked to remind me of it. Every second he could.
"Hey 300!" he called out as I struggled to lift 90 pounds on the weights. "Is that all you got?" Spotting me was the pretty red head who's name I learned to be Chigiri. Chigiri was getting as fed up as I was at this asshole, rolling his eyes at Raichi's comments.
"Shut up, Shark Teeth!" I wheezed out between sets. "We all get it. I can't lift as much as you!" With one final push, I put the weight backs on the bar, panting as I laid back on the bench.
"Watch it," Raichi snapped back from where he was also finishing his set next to me.
I sat up, giving him a flat look. "What? Can't take what you dish out? Pointing out the obvious, like the fact that I'm girl, makes you look stupid, you know. Everyone has eyes. And ears. So please stop repeating yourself dumbass! We all heard you the first forty times you made fun of me!" I tucked my sweaty and loose bangs out of my eyes with a scoff.
Raichi was about to yell back when the tall guy named Iemon, who was spotting the spiky toothed blonde boy, grumbled out, "Leave her alone, Raichi. It's getting annoying."
That seemed to end the arguing and teasing. For now. I gave Iemon a grateful look and switched places with Chigiri.
It was now three days in and I was laying on my back, my worn and exhausted body crying for me to sleep. But the loud snoring from multiple boys in the room made it impossible. I was quietly groaning, wanting to beat my head against the wall. Fuck it.
I crawled out of my sleeping bag and padded across the room, grabbing my training uniform out of my locker and going to the bathroom. Once I was changed and my lounge wear was put back into the locker, I walked across the quiet facility to the training field. I stepped in, taking in the room. It was a full sized soccer field. Perfect.
Grabbing a ball, I went over some drills my coach had worked with me on in the past. I practiced maneuvering the ball with my barefeet, carefully controlling it with slow new moves before speeding up and trying to have the same control. Several times I tossed the ball up and then practiced running and catching it midair with my feet before carefully dribbling to the goal. Then I'd shoot from various places, aiming for different spots every time. Every single shot went in. It was a strength of mine - I guess - to get precise goals exactly where I wanted the ball to go. That was one of the first things Hikaru taught me. I took a breath, wiping sweat away that was dripping from my shoulders to my belly, causing the material to stick to my body.
