Itoshi Rin's stoic façade briefly fell at seeing me standing in front of him

Itoshi Rin's stoic façade briefly fell at seeing me standing in front of him. His teal eyes widened slightly, the frown on his lips moving to be blank. I didn't blame him for being thrown off guard. I would also be the last person to expect at an all male's soccer competition.

"Kei-chan....." he said quietly. "You....." He trailed off, staring at me wordlessly for a moment before his face retightened into a firm expression.

"You're a girl," the tall male with long hair said, walking a few steps my way. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to be the best striker. Duh," I told him with an annoyed look, finally looking away from Rin.

"I'm surprised they let you in this program at all," the unfamiliar male told me. "You're so...... small...."

"My size has nothing to do with my abilities to play soccer," I refuted, resuming my process of putting my hair into a ponytail. "That's like me telling you that you should play basketball because you are so tall." And I wasn't kidding. This guy was taller than Nagi and Nagi was tall.

"Quiet," Rin said suddenly, making me stiffen in surprise. He walked up to me. "You. Iteya. You are on my team."

"What?" I asked in confusion, more concerned about the fact that he used my family name. We were closer than that, weren't we?

The tall male pointed at the screen on the back wall that read: "Form a team of 3 and proceed".

I blinked at it for a moment. "Oh." My thoughts began spinning. What did choosing this team mean? Were we going to be playing together or opposing one another? Were we going to be playing other teams? It would be best to be paired with people I knew. If I had to build a team out of everyone I had played with or against thus far then I would definitely want to play with Bachira.... or maybe Nagi...... but..... I couldn't just sit here and wait. I knew Bachira would pass the 1st Stage, but how long would it take him to do that?

"It's a yes or no answer," Rin told me firmly, those teal eyes burning into me in annoyance. "Are you joining my team or not? Give me an answer now or I'm taking the next person who walks in."

I was completely taken a back by his attitude and the way he was speaking to me right now, as if I didn't know him. As if we were strangers. I stiffened, staring into his narrowed gaze. I had to decide right this moment? I heard the door begin to open behind me and I exclaimed out, "Uh! Okay! Yes! Please?"

Rin stared at me for a long moment before he turned, pointing at me and then the tall male. "You two. Let's go."

I gasped before trotting after his long gait that was immediately moving to the door. I was taking a huge risk here. I didn't even know this tall dark haired male and I hadn't seen Rin in so long that I was still shocked that he was standing in front of me. But...... Rin was very talented. I was just going to have to trust that we could somehow make this work. I looked back over my shoulder at a male that had entered right as I gave Rin my answer. He was staring at us with wide eyes as we moved the next door to leave. The doors closing shut off my view of him.
