Once Anri returned me to the dorm areas, I was bombarded with questions from almost everyone. Instead of telling them what was going to happen, I just decided to ignore them, change back into my lounge wear, and go lay down in my bed until Ego's team announcement. Before my outing with Sae, I had been so tired from the tryouts. But now, as I laid in my bed with my eyes closed, I couldn't fall asleep as my thoughts toiled.
I had to grasp the concept that if Blue Lock lost this upcoming match then my future in soccer was looking grim. Maybe I could end up on a successful woman's professional team and that would be great, but I wondered if I would be satisfied with that. Would I be satisfied knowing that I had reached the ceiling of my career? That there would be nothing more to achieve than that? Had I made a mistake in turning Sae down?
No, if I was going to go down, then I would gamble my chances with Blue Lock. I wanted to win with these people who saw me for who I was and what talent I had instead of a bunch of people I didn't even know who wouldn't give me the respect I wanted.
"Iteya-chan," a voice said to me from close by. A hand was placed gently on my shoulder and lightly shook me. "Hey, it's time to wake up."
My eyes opened and I looked up at Chigiri. "I wasn't asleep, but thank you."
I sat up slowly and Chigiri gave me look. "Are you okay? If you weren't asleep then you've been laying there very still for almost two hours."
"I was thinking, but yes I am okay," I told him with a small nod. I swung my feet over the side of my bed and stood up next to him. "How much time left?"
"Ten minutes," he informed me and gestured at my training uniform next to my bed. "We were told to wear that and meet in the central room."
I sighed with a small stretch and grabbed my uniform. "Okay. Thanks Chigiri-kun. I'll be there in just a minute."
I moved towards the bathroom and walked inside to see two players talking about something. I recognized one as Kurona, the boy with the pinkish hair from Nagi and I's last match with Team A and the boy with blue eyes that wore a headband when he played.
"Iteya-san!" the blue eyed boy said in a slight panic and bowed frantically. "It's nice to finally meet you! I'm sorry! Would you like to use the bathroom?" He had a country accent, which was kind of cool but hard to understand over his stuttering.
"It's fine." I just blinked at him and walked further into the bathroom. "You don't have to leave. I'll just change in one of the stalls." I stopped in front of him. "Your name is Nanase, right?"
"Yes, senpai!" he said very quickly with a nod. "I'm a first year from Kanasi!"
I gave him a gentle smile. "You don't have to be so formal. I never really cared for any of that. You're kind of far from home, huh? That's cool. I like your accent."
