Okay, now I was jealous of the extremely hot and tall Nagi of Team V. He was walking past where I stood with eyes on me. For the first time they didn't seem to be distant or blank. He actually looked awake, like he was paying attention. I gazed at him, wanting to hate him for being better at something I thought I was good at. But he was just too pretty to hate. I could try though.
"Nice goal, Nagi!" Reo jogged up. "Just like I envisioned it!"
"Reo," Nagi said as he kept walking and finally looked away to his purple haired teammate. "Can I play hooky now?"
"Not yet," Reo told him with his his hands on his hips. "Five more goals, then you can."
"Awww.... how about four?"
I stared at the duo, my mind racing with questions. So, did Nagi really just not care about soccer? Why was he even here? Why did he follow Reo's words without question? I shivered, the interaction reminding of old familiar memories. There was no time to think about that now. I had to focus.
"What was that?" Naruhaya ran up to me with a panicked look.
"Just luck," Igaguri answered for me. "It's only one goal. It's time for us to attack!"
"We gotta do this!" Raichi snarled with his famous feral smirk.
We all got back into positions. Chigiri had the ball, kicking off at the blow of the whistle to Kunigami. "Kunigami!"
"Right!" the ginger muscleman moved forward.
I began to jog after him watching Kunigami speed up as he passed players. As he got close to dribble around an opposing player, Reo swooped in unexpectedly.
"You're still not in shooting range, are you Kunigami Gains-kun?" Reo crowed with a knowing smirk, swiping it away and turning to run the opposite direction.
Fuck..... if he knew Kunigami's name then he probably knew everything about every single one of us. Our strengths and weaknesses. Our weapons. Our dynamic as a team. Maybe I underestimated the lengths that Reo would take to defeat us. I had been hoping that Reo would think he would just be too good to prep. But Reo had done exactly what he had told me he would do. He did his homework.
"Hold it! I won't let you!" Kunigami chased after Reo, but the purple haired boy was nimble, easily escaping his grasp.
"Ready for another Nagi?" Reo called out, rearing his leg back to kick.
Luckily, I came in clutch, jumping up and blocking the pass with my shoulder before it could get too high. The high speed ball bounced off of me too fast for me to intercept, flying into open space.
Reo smiled at me from where he slid to a stop only feet away. "Oh! Iteya-chan being prompt as usual!"
"Please keep the ball out of my side of the field," was all I could think of to say, grimacing slightly as I landed and rubbed my now sore left shoulder.
