My eyes locked on Sae and Shido as the sound of the whistle pierced the air. Of course, Sae passed the ball right into Shido's reach. My eyes followed the ball and Rin moved forward to quickly cut off the blonde.
"Beating! Throbbing! I'm going in!" Shido shouted out, that look in his eyes when he played seriously on full display. That look always kind of fascinated me, honestly, but now that it was coming right in my direction, it was mildly terrifying.
Shido was suddenly accelerating around Rin, weaving past him and Nagi, and ignoring his own teammates, before coming right in my direction. My eyes widened as he stormed towards me, bracing myself. But before I could even move, he burst past my right side only to pass moments later right back to Sae. I sucked in a breath and instantly began moving towards the goal.
"It's a rampage!" Bachira said from my right as I tried to keep up with Shido.
Sae scanned the field before he kicked the ball sharply, the object flying right under the feet of Isagi and Karasu. Ahead of where I was sprinting, Shido snagged Sae's critical pass.
"I'll make it!" Chigiri shouted, zooming past me and up on Shido's left side.
"Must be handy to be so fast," Shido told the redhead with a smirk.
"Shido! Over here!" Sendo called out as he ran to the right of his teammate.
Chigiri's eyes widened as Shido chuckled and turned to Sendo. "So you do get it, suckerfish! One two! One two!"
"Shut up!" Sendo shouted angrily as he collected Shido's pass to him. "I'm just doing what Itoshi Sae told me to!"
We were in trouble now. Sendo was actually cooperating with Sae and Shido, which was something I hadn't planned on. I quickly adjusted and started dashing right, moving behind Sendo and towards where Sae was running towards the goal. He was going to be the center of this play. The ball would go back to him at some point.
"If it's to win..." Sendo grunted out as he and Shido passed rapidly to each other. "Then I'll just do as I'm told!" He eventually got the ball and passed right to my suspected target.
Sae leapt forward and caught the ball with his right foot, teal eyes set ahead in deep focus. Isagi was approaching the Itoshi from the right and I was pressing on the left. Sae would have to pass right now or choose to fight off both us for the ball.
My eyes caught Sae's sudden decision to act with his abrupt body language. The left leg of the Itoshi brother moved far back. He was going to shoot? Surely not! What if this was a fake out? Whatever it was, I tried to veer right in front of him to stop the ball that left Sae's foot. I stuck my left leg out, the spiraling movement of the object just passing a few centimeters above my shin. No!
"Here you go, Demon-kun," Sae muttered behind me.
Isagi and I nearly collided from our efforts to stop him, but missed each other thanks to me stepping to the left just in time to slip by him. Isagi's eyes were on where the ball was airborne, not in a shot, but in a pass that I now realized was catered just for Shido. I turned with wide eyes to see where Shido was spinning his body to take an airborne strike.
