"So he asked you out?!" Callista exclaimed later that night from inside Eme and I's cabin.
I nodded once, focused on the mirror in front of me while brushing my wet hair - a result from my recent shower. "He wants me to get dinner with him."
"And you said yes, right?" questioned Eme. She and Callista were sitting on my bed, looking excited by my news. "Please say that you did."
"I told him I thought it would be nice." I shook my head in amusement as I saw their joyful expressions through the mirror. "Please don't make a big deal out of it."
Callista held up a confused hand. "But dinner where? At the dining hall?"
"No, he told me to meet him at his cabin. We're going to eat there, I guess."
"But how is that dinner?" Callista raised an eyebrow. "I'm confused."
"There's room service, dummy!" Eme playfully swiped at the blonde's head. "You're lucky you're pretty and athletic."
She glared at Eme in return. "There's room service? How am I supposed to know that? If I had, I'd have ordered dessert at like two in the morning the past two nights!"
"We are on a fancy cruise! Plus it was in the brochure when we arrived." Eme gave her a disappointed look.
"I don't know how to read Japanese! How is that my fault?"
"Whatever!" The midfielder turned to me, ignoring Callista. "So what are you going to wear?"
I moved to face them and put the brush away. "Nothing fancy. He said to be casual."
"What??? No, you need to dress up, do your hair, and put on makeup!" protested the young defender. "It's a date with Isagi!"
"Isagi has literally seen me a sweaty mess with eye bags and unbrushed hair," I pointed out with a shrug. "We essentially lived together for several months. I don't think I need to pretend to be someone I'm not."
Eme blinked at me before turning her head to the back wall. "Ellis, you've been awfully quiet this whole time. What do you think about this?"
The eldest of us was standing by the window, leaning against the wall and staring up at the dark sky. The sound of her name must have broken her from her thoughts because it took her a moment to reply. "I think it's good."
"It's good?" repeated Callista, squinting at her roommate. "Yesterday you were ecstatic about this idea!"
Ellis blinked before saying, "Yeah, I think this will be good for Keiko... that's all."
I exchanged a look with the other two before asking her, "You okay, Ellis?"
Quickly she gave me a smile and nodded. "I'm fine. Don't worry about me!" She walked up and put a hand on my shoulder to give it a small squeeze. "I'm glad you're keeping an open mind, Keiko. Keep that up okay?" I gave a slow nod before she let me go. "I think I'm going to go ahead and call it a day. See you all in the morning!"
