I stepped into the locker room, dressed in my new uniform and ready to play with my mother's ribbon tied into my hair - luckily it still matched the colors of Paris X-Gen, along with my newly dyed hair.
"About time you showed up," Karasu told me, being the first to see me enter. "I thought we were going to have to go out there without you."
"Why wouldn't I show up?" I questioned as I walked up to where he and other members of the team were standing. "I just had to go back for my translators." I stuck the ear piece in my ear to back up my words.
"Hey, in some countries, being fashionably late to a party is preferred," Charles spoke up, walking up and putting a hand on my shoulder. "Though, Keiko is the not usually the type of person to show up late. Me on the other hand-"
"I'm not late." I crossed my arms. "You all have not even left the locker rooms yet."
"Relax, Takoyaki-chan," Shido told me, strolling up and shoving Charles hand off so he could grip both of my shoulders tightly. "Save your edginess for taking out your brother, yeah? I can't wait to see his face when I absolutely best him in a one on one." He smirked. "I'm going to show that shrimp just who the wannabe professional is."
"We don't even know if he's going to be a starter," Karasu pointed out, looking between us. "I mean... if he can even play at all..."
Nanase's eyes widened. "But what if he can? Wasn't he supposed to be really good before?"
"You all are making a big deal out of nothing." Rin's voice sounded and we all turned to see him finish getting ready. He walked towards us. "Don't waste your time on Iteya Hikaru. Just focus on getting the ball to the goal for me to score."
"Or you could choose to not take orders from this long lashed freak and give it to me instead," Shido said, an attempt to jeer at Rin who was passing by to leave the locker room.
"Enough chatting. Let's go and play!" Loki called to us from the door. "It's time to go out on the field."
Everyone began to exit and Nanase fell into step next to me, giving me a smile. "Don't worry, senpai! I plan on sending the ball to you when I can!"
I gave him a thankful grin as we entered the hallway. "Thank you, Nanase-kun."
I followed them all out into the hall and Loki gave me a smile, falling in step next to me. "I know that we are about to play the team you wanted to play on, Keiko, but I believe that today you will be on the winning team."
I nodded and gave him a small grin. "I think you are right, Loki. I'm better off for it anyway. It's just another reason to win, right?"
Loki nodded. "Don't hold back and give it all that you have."
I agreed with another nod as we stepped onto the field and my eyes moved to the other team that was already waiting. There stood the Ubers in their striped jerseys, watching us with critical stares. Off to the side was Snaffi, a relaxed smile on his face as his eyes locked on where we were entering. Loki raised a hand in the other master striker's direction as a friendly gesture. Snaffi returned it but when he looked down to where I was still walking next to my coach, I couldn't help but give that Italian a glare.
