I said nothing once Isagi finished speaking, staring straight past his shoulder to the wall. Everyone's eyes were on me as they waited for me to respond. Hikaru and Nagi were sitting on the bed, Reo and Karasu standing next to them. Behind me on the couch sat Chigiri, Kunigami, and Bachira. Across the room sitting near the window was Shido, who was slouching with a blank look on his face. Rin was leaning against the wall by the door, eyes dark and expression even more eerie.
"Are you alright?" Isagi asked me after a moment.
Everything seemed really loud and blurry around me as I processed the information but I nodded once.
Hikaru stood up and took a single step forward. He ducked his head slightly but asked me, "Do you understand everything Isagi said?"
Again I nodded, but said nothing.
Isagi blinked before exchanging a look with some of the others and then Hikaru. After he turned back to me. "I hope you know that we never wanted to mislead you or be dishonest. Our goal was to get you to come on this cruise so we could reconnect with you and regain your trust. You needed to know the truth and you needed to be able to trust us when we gave it to you. You've been manipulated too much and you deserve better than that. I hope you understand...." He paused and asked, "Do you have any questions? You can ask anything and I promise I'll answer."
I kept staring at the wall beyond him as I took a deep breath and muttered, "I need a minute...."
My feet slowly began to move across the room to the bathroom and Isagi nodded. "Oh.... yeah... sure! Take all the time you need."
Steadily I walked up to the bathroom door before entering and closing it shut. Then I stood still and stared into the mirror directly in front of me. My face was pale and my eyes almost looked hooded. Swallowing carefully, I stepped forward and turned on the faucet. Then I crossed the bathroom and turned on the shower. As soon as the sound of water was echoing through the space, I quickly collapsed onto my knees before hurling into the toilet.
I felt nauseous. Sick. Betrayed. Dizzy.
Trying to muffle my coughs, I struggled and gripped the side of the bathroom sink, eyes stinging and beginning to leak.
How could I let this happen?
I sucked in a breath, blinking away the tears as I tried not to get sick.
How could I be so naïve? I'm an idiot.
Dry harsh ragged breaths kept leaving my lips as the steam from the shower began to gather around.
I trusted him...
Just the image of Sae in my mind made me almost throw up again. Harshly, I pressed my palm into my mouth, shaking my head over and over. Losing my balance, I fell onto my butt and leaned against the wall. My eyes squeezed shut as I tried to get the dizziness to go away.
