Nagi and I spent a good amount of time on the practice field, just passing to one another and getting a feel for each other's movements. At some point, Otoya and Karasu joined us but kept to the other side of the field. Nagi was actually a breath of fresh air to work with and he was easy to talk to. After a few hours of simple drills, we decided to call it and shower before dinner. I let Nagi go first and in exchange he helped guard the bathroom door for when I went in.
Then we both made our way to the small cafeteria. To our surprise, there was a full all-you-could-eat buffet. My mouth watered. Oh my God.... Thank you!
I bounced on the buffet, grabbing steak, fresh vegetables, potatoes, desserts and fresh juice. Then I sat down at one of four tables in the room. Nagi grabbed his own food and joined me.
"Oh my God I am going to cry," I said with joy, as I chewed the steak. "I haven't eaten like this since I got in here!" A little water did come to my eyes as I continued to stuff my face. "It tastes so good!"
"It does," Nagi murmured across from me, eating his own fillet. "I guess this is what life is like at the top."
"I could get used to it," I replied with a nod.
Nagi and I continued to eat and make light conversation. I mostly just asked him what his life was like outside of Blue Lock and how he met Reo. The other four joined us at some point, spread out at the other tables. I noticed they weren't making conversation like we were. Otoya and Karasu were talking strategies under their breaths while Rin was sitting at a table by himself. Shido was at the last table, staring at my back from across the room as he ate his own plate.
"After this we should go talk strategy in the lounge," I suggested, spooning a pudding dessert into my mouth. "We are going to need to consider a lot, since we are on the bottom."
Nagi nodded and said, "It would be a good idea to think about how we can incorporate random players into our playstyles."
I sighed and put down my half eaten pudding cup. "It might be harder than we think, all things considering....."
The white haired boy tilted his head at me. "What are you thinking?"
"Well, if you want me to be honest," I began, dropping my voice into a quiet tone only he could hear. "I don't think we are the best match up." He blinked at me slowly. "It has nothing to do with how get along, but because we are so alike. We have the same weapon and very similar playstyles." I looked over slightly at the other tables. "As you and I know, Rin is good at everything and Shido is also a great all around player. I'm sure Otoya and Karasu work well together since they survived the Second Selection on one another's teams. They already have a good chemistry and I'm sure they have good weapons considering their ranks. That left you and I, the oddballs, to be paired together. No only are we at a disadvantage as the bottom ranking players in the Top Six, but we both haven't really played a leading role on either of our previous teams." I let out another side. "The key to us doing well will be somehow learning to play off of each other and outsmarting Rin."
