I'm travelling with family right now and tonight is the first night in like a month that I am in my own room and is currently 2:30 a.m. and I can't sleep 😎

Also short chapter sorry

Y/n pov-

I stare at my ceiling, the hours ticking later into the night, and yet I still can't get a blink of sleep. There wasn't really one specific reason for my lack of sleep; it was more of a mix of things. I pick my phone up from my bedside table and decide to send a message to my girlfriend, hoping she is awake as well.

Y/n: Hey, you awake?
Sae-byeok: Yeah, what's up?
Y/n: Can't sleep. Could we maybe call?
Sae-byeok: Sure

With a childish smile on my face, I press the Facetime button, awaiting her to pick me up. As the call connected, I couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort wash over me. Seeing her familiar face on the screen instantly made me feel less alone in the darkness of my room. "Hi," I whisper, not wanting to be too loud. Looking at her face, she seemed a bit tired, a very small smile on her face as she mumbled back a hi.

"Why can't you sleep?" She asks me I take a deep breath, trying to find the right words to explain my restless state. "I don't know; it's just one of those nights where my mind won't seem to quiet down," I admit softly. "Why are you?" She takes a deep breath. "I don't know really; I just can't." She lets out a small laugh.

I can't help but notice the weariness in her eyes as she tries to brush off her own sleeplessness with a laugh. It's moments like these that make me grateful for the comfort of having someone to share my restless nights with. I roll over in bed, still holding the phone in front of me. Sae-byeok sets her phone up on her bedside table, adjusting herself so she can lie more comfortably.

We don't say anything for a moment. I watch as her eyes slowly fall closed. I got a minute to take in her soft features, the way her hair was falling onto her face, her light spray of freckles that kissed her cheeks, and the gentle rise and fall of her chest as she breathed peacefully. "You should sleep, my love," I whisper, not wanting to disturb the peacefulness. Sae-byeok quickly protests, letting out an annoyed groan, "No... not until you're asleep." As she speaks, her eyes remain closed and her lips are not moving much to allow proper words out. I can't help but smile at her stubbornness, admiring her determination even in her sleep.

"Fine, I'll go to sleep if it means you will sleep," I reply, giving in to her request. "Mmmmm, good." She gives a small smile at the screen, and I have to hold back a giggle as her cheek squishes against her pillow. "Goodnight, my love. Sleep well," I whisper to the phone. "I love you," she mumbles, bringing her arm up to wave at the screen. "I love you more." And with that, I hung up. Putting my phone back down, I turn to return to my original position, staring at the ceiling with a smile on my face.

As I drift off to sleep, I can't help but feel grateful for our love and the simple moments we share, even through a screen.
