Seating plan ~ Sae-byeok

Y/n pov-

Entering the classroom I head off to my normal seat and prepare for the lesson, the classroom slowly fills with people all heading over to their group of friends and chatting before the teacher arrives. 

"Ok everyone settle down!" The teacher calls as she places things down for the lesson, "now before we start I would like to tell you all that a seating plan will be made so at the end of the lesson I would like you all to pick someone you would like to sit next to for the rest of the year". The whole class breaks into a chatter, talking about who they are going to write down and who they hope they get. 

My only friend in this class isn't here today so I'm left alone, I start to sketch little things on the side of my book whilst the teacher begins the lesson. The class eventually falls into a comfortable silence as we all completed the assigned work, I overhear a conversation between a group of friends behind me. 

"You gonna wrote her name down for the person to sit with?" A voice whispers "yeah probably" I recognize the voice, my crush. Kang Sae-byeok.

Whose name was she going to write down? does she like someone? who?

I decide not to freak myself out with a million questions I knew I didn't have the answer to and instead continue with the 'work' that I was 100% doing. The teacher walks around the classroom causing me to shift what I was doing and make it look like I was on board with the current work, she puts a piece of paper on everyone's desk.

Time skip-

The end of class was nearing and the teacher had now instructed us to write down one or two names of someone we would like to sit next to, I knew I was going to write down my best friend as one of them and for the other, I decided to take my chances and write Sae-byeok's name. 

"how do you spell her name again?" I hear Sae-byeok whisper "Girl get better at spelling- god" Her friend comments before whispering out the letters to... MY NAME!

It took a lot to contain myself when I heard her friend carefully whisper the letters out to Sae-byeok whilst also hearing her pen write it down. "Ok everyone, once the bell goes please place the papers on my desk with your names at the top on your way out" the teacher announces, the bell soon rings and everyone is quick to gather their things and place the paper on the teacher's desk.

I rush to my locker, grab my things and run out of the school desperate to call my best friend. "Hey, Y/n" Ji-Yeong speaks "Girl where the hell were you today!? You left me alone in like every class" I complain to her "I'm sorry, I wasn't feeling good but ill be there tomorrow I promise" She informs me, "you better- anyway, in our history class we are being put into a seating plan and I overheard Sae-byeok talking to her friend and I think she likes me!" I yell almost a little too loud.

I walk up the hill to my home as I continue to scream at Ji-Yeong about my discovery and question what I should do next. She tells me to calm down and not to overthink it, we have history tomorrow so I should just hope I'm seated next to her, then I can make my next move. 

The next day- 

The teacher was already in the classroom when we all arrived telling every student that entered to look up at the board before we sit down. "Y/n look!" Ji-Yeong whispers to me, elbowing me in the side. I take a look at the bored and see that Sae-byeok and I were seated next to each other, I look over at our assigned desk and see she isn't there yet which gives me a few seconds to freak out before I need to act normal.

I move off to my new seat and continue a drawing in the back from yesterday's class, I overhear more students enter and talk about where they are sitting "Look you got put next to her" I hear a voice whisper from the front of the classroom "yeah, wish me luck" I hear someone whisper back. 

The desk shakes slightly as Sae-byeok places her things down on the table and sits down, "Hey" Her voice is cheery, something I haven't really heard before but I love it "Hi" I reply nervously. "What you drawing there?" She asks, not getting a clear look at the sketch. I take a glance at it to make sure it doesn't look bad, it's a little drawing of a rabbit, not well detailed but clear as to what it is.

I move the book so she can look at it "Wow, your good" She complements "Thanks" I smile. The teacher begins the lesson and I continue to draw and occasionally take a quick look at Sae not paying much attention to what the teacher is telling us. "You have until Friday to finish this task so please use your time wisely", task? till Friday? maybe I should have listened even just a little.

Not only did I have a task I know nothing about but it was also the end of the lesson "I hate to do this but do you think you could help me, I don't understand what to do" I ask Sae-byeok, she sends me a warm smile "Sure, we can go to a coffee shop after school and ill help you there, is that ok with you?" She starts to pack up, The bell rings although she still waits for my response "That would be great!" "Cool, it's a date" She winks and walks away. 

I sit in the chair stunned, a date? I'm not ready for that! is she serious when she says a date tho? oh fuck... don't screw this up!
