Beach ~ Sae-byeok

Y/n pov-

Finally, a day that both me and Sae are free and we are spending at the beach. It couldn't have been a better day for the beach as well, the sun was shining bright in the cloudless sky, birds soaring over at us and the beautiful crystal clear water with waves that weren't too flat but not too big either. Sure me and Sae had gone to the beach before but not very often and it was normally just for walks with Cheol, if we did go there to swim I would always be the one to take Cheol in the water while Sae quietly smiled from the shoreline but today I was determined to get her in the water.

Surprisingly the beach didn't have many people there but I guess most are at work or doing other things, I had forced Sae to put swimmers on even though she insisted that she wouldn't go swimming. We laid down our towels, set up our snacks and esky filled with ice and drinks. My inner mother also told me I should bring a beach umbrella.... so I did!

Once all our things were laid out I started to apply sunscreen all over my skin, "Babe can you do my back please?" I pass Sae the sunscreen and when it comes in contact with my back I jump a bit at the cold feel of it. Sae-byeok laughs and continues to apply it on my back then me doing the same for her. I lay down on the towel and opened my book to the current chapter, I was close to finishing this novel. It was a murder mystery novel, my favourite; I loved the thrill, the unknown characters with masked personalities. 

We had both been sitting there in comfortable silence for a good 15 minutes both off in our own worlds doing our own things. The outside temperature had risen since arriving at the sweat was becoming evident on my forehead, I jump up taking my shirt off revealing my pastel yellow coloured bikini underneath. Younger me would never be caught bead wearing swimmers like these but in the past 2 years I have achieved a new level of confidence in myself, I wasn't complaining because I had always been insecure but now I was proud of my body no matter what it looked like.

"You coming in?" I ask as I look down at my girlfriend who seems to be sunbathing- odd for her but oh well. "In the water? yeah no thank you, you have fun though" She smiles at my pulling her sunglasses back over her eyes "Oh come on! please!" I beg, she only laughs at my useless attempt to get her in the water, it confused me because she doesn't have this much of a fuss when we go swimming in a pool so why the beach. I choose not to push it and instead find a different way to get her in the water. "I'll watch you though" She confirms with me, a smile brought to my face.

I run into the water, the waves crashing against my body sending little droplets to fly into the air, the water was cool and refreshing; definitely what I needed in a day like this. I continue to walk into the water, the deeper I get the harder it is for my legs to move but that doesn't stop me. Constantly jumping over waves or diving underneath my hair was now drenched and the slight taste of saltwater lingered on my tongue. I turn around to where Sae is standing and use both my arms to wave at her, I see her slowly raise one of her arms as she waves back 'now was my chance'

I could hear a wave coming from behind me and knew that this was sure to not only get her in the water but give her a little fright as well, you may think it's cruel but it's kinda funny at the same time. The wave comes closer to me and right as I feel the cold water on my back I throw myself forward and allow the water to crash over my head, holding my breath for as long as I can I keep myself under the water. waves still going over me.

Sae-Byeoks pov-

Y/n waves at me from afar so of course I wave back, smiling at how childish her wave was. A decent size wave approaches her from behind but I know she will hear the wave and jump over it... right? The wave only gets closer and she still hasn't turned. I stand up and walk closer to the water to the point where my feet are in it, I never liked the water not because I didn't like getting wet but if I'm being honest the ocean kinda scares me but I would never tell Y/n because I'm worried she would make fun of me.

I see the wave hit Y/n and her head go under, I stand there for a second shocked but when she doesn't come back up I panic. taking my shirt and shorts off as fast as I can I bolt into the water, my fear was not my main concern right now but what was, was making sure that y/n is ok. My legs quickly grow tired as they try to compete with the flowing water that goes the opposite way to where I'm heading but I don't stop, once I get to where I saw y/n I throw myself under the water and see her body under some upcoming waves.

Gripping onto her waist I pull her above the water and bridal style in my arms. "Y/n omg are you ok!" I somewhat yell at her. She starts gasping for air, probably from holding it for too long when under the water but after a minute or 2 she begins to laugh, I send her a confused look. 'How could she be laughing now? She almost died!' she jumps out of my arms and splashed me with a bit of water. "I got you in the water" she laughs with a smug look on her face.

"That was all an act!" I yell and she only laughs harder "I'm sorry love but I had to get you in somehow, look it's not even that bad. The water is refreshing, not too harsh... it's perfect" She smiles at me, I take a deep breath and look around me and at the calm water. The waves had died down a bit, I look back at Y/n and started to believe that everything was ok and although I'm not completely convinced and still a bit shaken up from thinking the love of my life had drowned I knew that for now, everything would be ok.

After playing in the water for a bit we both head back to shore and lay down on our separate towels, We had calm music playing in the background as we talked about random things that popped up in our heads. cold drinks from the esky and some chips in between us I knew that after today we would be coming to the beach a lot more... just minus the fake drowning.

A/n-

for anyone who doesn't know what an esky is it's the Australian word for what some people would call like a 'cooler' or 'ice bin' IDK what you guys use but anyway. Idk how I feel about this chapter and I will probably go over it and make it better but for now, enjoy :) hope you guys have an amazing day/night and I love you all <3
