Y/n pov-
I barely slept last night, how could I? How was I supposed to know what was going to happen next?
I didn't get a call, not a single text, no clue of where she was staying or where she could have been and it left me feeling nothing but anxious. It's late morning, and I still haven't heard anything from her. The uncertainty is eating away at me, and I can't help but wonder if something bad has happened. Till finally, as if god had heard my concerns, my phone rang and her name flashes across the screen. Relief washes over me as I answer the call, eager to hear her voice.
"Y/n" She starts "Im coming back to the house, I think we should talk," She says with a serious tone. My heart sinks as I try to anticipate what she wants to discuss. The only thing I can think of at this moment is that this is it, we are over, all it took was this fight for her to finally end it between us. "Ok, ill see you soon" I respond, my voice trembling with uncertainty. As I hang up the phone, a whirlwind of emotions engulfs me - fear, sadness, and a glimmer of hope that maybe we can work things out. I anxiously wait for her arrival, mentally preparing myself for the difficult conversation that lies ahead.
I hear the front door open, Sae-byeok enters the room with a small plastic bag in her hand. Her eyes are red and puffy, evidence of the tears she has shed. She walks towards me, her steps hesitant and her body language guarded, as if unsure of how I will react to her presence. "Y/n..." her voice is soft and shaky. I take a deep breath, trying to steady my own emotions before responding. "Sae-byeok," I say, my voice equally as fragile, She doesn't say anything else and instead brings me into a tight hug.
"I'm sorry, I don't want this to end, I never meant what I said" She whispers, her words muffled against my shoulder. I feel a mix of relief and confusion wash over me as I hold her tightly, unsure of how to respond. The weight of her apology hangs in the air, leaving us both grappling with the uncertainty of what comes next.
I pull away from the hug, looking into her eyes, searching for sincerity. "I appreciate your apology," I say softly, "but we need to talk about what happened and figure out if we can move forward from here." She nods her head, taking a seat on the couch beside me. The silence stretches between us, filled with unspoken questions and a sense of unease. I take a deep breath, gathering my thoughts before breaking the silence.
"Why did you really not tell me you were coming home late?" As I ask the question, her eyes flicker with hesitation before she finally speaks, "I was afraid of how you would react. I didn't want to start an argument or make you worry unnecessarily."
Her words hang in the air, leaving me with a mix of relief and frustration. "Afraid?" My voice breaks, my heart sinks. "Afraid of what, exactly? Have I done something to make you feel like you can't be honest with me?" The room grows heavy with tension as her gaze shifts to the floor, her silence speaks volumes.
She says nothing, "Sae-byeok" I reach out and gently touch her arm, trying to convey my concern and understanding. "Please, Sae-byeok, I need you to trust me. We can't work through our problems if we're not honest with each other. I want to be there for you, no matter what." She takes a deep breath before opening up "I don't want to disappoint you, and every time we fight it feels like I'm letting you down. But I'm scared that if I'm completely honest, you'll leave me." My heart breaks, everything that was bottled up comes to the surface.
"I'm sorry" I whisper, tears welling in my eyes.
"I never want you to feel like you're letting me down. I promise, no matter what you tell me, I won't leave you. We're in this together." "But we keep fighting, and everything is falling apart and I just-" She's interrupted but a painful cry, choking on her words as tears stream down her face. I reach out and hold her tightly, letting her know that I'm here for her. "I understand that things are tough right now, but we can work through this" I try to comfort her.
"How?!" She desperately cries out "How can we possibly fix all of this when it feels like everything is crumbling around us?" she pleads, her voice filled with desperation. I take a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts before responding. "I don't have all the answers right now, but we can start by taking things one step at a time. We'll find solutions together and support each other through this difficult time," I assure her, hoping to offer some glimmer of hope amidst the chaos.
"Do you really think we can fix this? Do you think it's worth fixing this?" She questions "I love you and I am willing to put as much time and effort into this as is needed. I can't imagine life without you Sae-byeok, I really can't" I tell her, Her smile is weak as she brings me in for a small kiss, her lips soft against mine. "But we need to be realistic," she says as she pulls away, her voice filled with uncertainty. "We have to consider if our love is enough to overcome all the challenges ahead." "I think it's enough" I reply confidently. "Do you?" I ask, looking into her eyes for reassurance. She hesitates for a moment, then nods slowly. "Yes," she says softly, her voice filled with determination. I pull her into a tight hug, holding on as tight as I can.
