I'm ok ~ Sae-byeok

Y/n pov-

For the past 2 weeks, Sae-byeok has been oddly distant, our encounters at school were minimal and she barely answered my calls or messages at night. Our walks home together turned into me walking alone and our friend group saw her less and less at breaks.

I decided to finally get to the bottom of it and go to her house, if she doesn't talk then I would make her (Not with violence). The walk to her house is peaceful, it had been a sunny weekend and still even in the late hours of the afternoon the sun shines bright as it slowly sets behind the mountains.

I walked up to her front door and take a deep breath before knocking, it wasn't long until the door opened and I was greeted by Sae-byeoks mum. "Oh, Y/n. How nice to see you, can I help you?" She asks me, an apron tied around her waist and I can spot Cheol peeking out from behind her.

"Is Sae-byeok home?" I question, smiling at her sweetly. "She is, Cheol can you go get her please," Her mother asks her brother, he nods his head and runs up the stairs to her room. A few minutes later Sae walks down the stairs, she looks miserable. Her mother leaves for the kitchen and it's just us at the front door. 

"Y/n? What are you doing here?" She asks me, she doesn't seem very happy to see me. "Can we talk?" I try to keep my voice calm so as to not worry her. She opens the door more allowing me inside and leads me to her room, shutting the door behind her.

 "what's up?" She sits on her bed, staring at me as she waits for me to talk. Looking around her room it's quite a mess, it doesn't seem like she has been eating much either based on the pile-up of uneaten dishes on her desk.

"Sae-byeok, I know something isn't ok. All our friends have noticed it too and I just want to make sure you are ok" I say straight forward, she takes a second to speak, thinking about how to go about this. "I'm fine Y/n, there is nothing to worry about" She replies, no emotion in her voice... cold.

"Sae-byeok, I'm here for you just please tell me" I sit next to her on her bed "I'm ok" She whispers "Your not, just let me help" I take her hands and hold them in my lap "I'm ok.." She repeats, her voice shaking. "Did someone say something? Did they do something?" I push it, I know it's not right of me but I care about her and I don't want to leave her feeling like this any longer. 

"I'm ok Y/n!" She yells a bit, I can see tears threatening to fall as she holds it back. She yanks her hands from mine and stands up walking away from me. "Sae..." I too stand up, slowly walking up to her "I'm. ok. " She states sternly, not wanting me to continue, but I can't help it.

"Stop telling me you're ok! You're clearly not" I yell back, she goes silent and I feel instant guilt. I expect her to yell back at me, be her typical cold self and block me out but instead, she breaks. Letting out a painful yet silent cry as she slowly drops to the ground, I quickly rush over to her and bring her into my arms; hers wrap around me as she cries into my chest.

I was slightly taken back, I had never seen Sae-byeok so emotional, so vulnerable, so soft. "it hu- hurts" She chokes out, "It's ok I got you" I hold her close to me, lightly stocking her back in an attempt to comfort her. 

Although I'm not too sure what is the cause of her feeling so upset all I know is it had tipped her to her breaking point, which in all the time I have known her has never happened. 

Once she had calmed down I ask her if she wants to talk about it and she shakes her head which I accept and continue to hug her. She had gotten up and moved to her bed, pulling the covers over her body. "Can you come here?" She asks me, her voice quiet "Yeah" I whisper back approaching her bed as she lifts up the covers for me.

I take my shoes off and lay down with her, it's awkward at first. I never thought Sae-byeok saw me as this close of a friend before but the second she wraps her arms around me again and rests her head on my chest I feel instantly comforted. It's a new feeling, like butterflies in my stomach.

"Thank you Y/n, for being here with me," She says to me, I smile at her and hold her close "Always and forever Sae-byeok" I reply.
