dinner dilemmas

roses pov

"hey mum" i greeted my mother as she walked into the house.

"hey baby, how was school" she asked taking a seat at the kitchen bench only a couple meters away from the lounge. after a brief conversation mum and lizzie fell into their own conversation and the boys were already playing minecraft.

"lizzie are some of my clothes still here?" i asked my aunt wanting to get out of my school clothes. she nodded and said she had just washed some so i got up heading towards the laundry.

half way down the hall y/n came out of the bathroom. i stopped when i saw her. she had never worn anything but long baggy clothes at school and now i see why. she had dark bruises all along her arms and even some marks around her neck that looked like hand prints. "y/n oh my god" i said just above a whisper hoping to not make her uncomfortable. "oh my god" i whispered again once i was closer to her.

she insisted she was fine but i didn't believe her. i grabbed her hand softly and lead her to the main area telling her food was out. "hold up i need my jumper" she said stopping outside lizzies guest room which i guess is hers and matties now.

"dude its like 35 degrees out" (95f) now i was thinking i did make her uncomfortable by reacting that what when i saw her bruises. she doesnt seem to want to argue with me so we continue walking to the main area.

we walk in silencing my mums and lizzies conversation. their eyes snap to us and my mums widen in shock but she tries to hide it. i lead y/n to the couch and sit down motioning for her to take a seat next to me.

i grab the tv remote and pass it to her trying to get her to feel more at home as i could tell she was tense even if i didnt know the girl that well.

"i seriously dont mind what we watch, you pick" she said handing me the remote back. i dont force her and end up putting friends on. who doesnt at least tolerate this show.

y/n pov

i sink into the couch more all my attention on the show when all of a sudden i remember that science assignment. i get up from the couch quickly "the science assignment" i said as i saw roses confused face.

"what science assignment, i thought you guys were almost done" i heard lizzies voice from the couch next to us where i only just noticed they had moved too.

"my teacher gave me another assignment to make up for me not being at school and to bring my grade up" i explained. excusing myself to go grab my school bag. i felt bad leaving them so i returned to the loungeroom opting to do the work on the couch.

"whos your science teacher again" lizzie asked tilting her head once i reentered the room. i stared at her blankly trying to remember. rose answered for me which i was thankful for.

lizzie nodded and pulled out her phone to write something down before putting it away again and i saw scarlett smirking at her. i started answering the dumb questions with half arsed answers.

i mustve zoned out because once i zoned back in i had drawn alll over the lines. unbothered i changed the colour of my pen and wrote over the drawings. the teacher should be blessed to see the art.

"y/n doenst mr perry look exactly like chandler bing or is it just me" rose said causing me to look up at the screen i agreed with her but went back to my work.

3rd person pov

an hour later scarlett and lizzie had gotten up to start on dinner and y/n was asleep on the couch. "what do you guys feel like for dinner" scar asked looking through liz's fridge.

"pasta!" cosmo said looking up from his screen. no one complained so thats what they started making.

rose was on her phone reading through a bunch of instagram notifications on her lock screen so the people in the group chat didnt know she had read it. she was in a group chat with most of the other "popular" kids and they were just so exaghsting.

they were all making fun of people and she didnt get why they cared so much about other peoples lives. you literally have no idea what people are going through. she finally decided she didnt want to be apart of it and left the group chat.

but that only caused more problems.

one of her closer friends texted her instantly.

rose stopped responding and left her on read. "hey can i join your world" she asked the boys who talked in hushed whispers for a second before agreeing.

"but you have to play the princess and we're gonna build you a castle" cosmo told his sister.

"yeah you can pick flowers for the garden" mattie said taking a quick break from the game to pack away his sisters school stuff that she had fallen asleep on.

20 mintues later

"dinner is almost ready go wash your hands" scarlett said grabbing bowls out. the boys ran off to the bathroom which rose stayed debating on waking up y/n.

"rose can you wake y/n too" lizzie asked settling her debate. the latter nodded and gently shook the girls shoulders. y/n was a light sleeper so she woke up with a groan.

"good evening sleeping beaty" rose laughed as y/n stretched out her limbs with a yawn. the boys came back as the girls walked to the bathroom.

"how much do you want mattie" liz asked after serving an eager cosmo.

"um" he thought for a second "just a little bit, im not that hungry right now"

"thats okay" lizzie said giving him a small bowl "is there any reason your not hungry, do you feel sick or anything?" she questioned making the boy shake his head.

"no, im just not used to having every meal, theres never enough food at home for that" mattie explained not realizing the hole hes digging.

"how much do you guys usually have then" lizzie asked her concern growing.

"y/n makes me sandwhiches for dinner on weekends but if i have school i always have lunch and dinner. most of the time y/n rations the food to keep it for 2 weeks so she wont eat things some days to make sure i can eat. i try to offer her my sandwhich but shes stubborn and insitsts i have it. anyway, thank you for dinner lizzie" the boy hurried back to the couch to continue his minecraft world.

scarlett who was on the seat infront of the bench had a wideeyed expression as she looked at a stunned lizzie.
