i was at scarlett's, making mattie another comic at the kitchen table as rose and mon made dinner. our parents were all out to dinner and our brothers were at an overnight camp so it was just us. lily was coming over after work infact the was a knock on the door right now.

"hey sunshine" she smiled greeting me in a hug. i smiled and hugged her back. we had been hanging out a lot more recently. ever since the diner we text all the time and hang out whenever we can.

i think i like her more than a friend but ive never liked anyone more than a friend so im not sure.

she came back to the kitchen with us and sat as rose cooked. monica was helping but mostly distracting rose.

"what's this?" lily asked looking at the page i was working on.

"a comic for mattie, ive made him a few already and he wants more so i gotta think of new villains and storyline's and stuff" i said flicking through the pages yet to be outlined and coloured in.

"yeah she's pretty tallented we all have our own characters, although y/n i think you need to update mine and make me more buff" rose said flexing her muscles.

"yeah yeah maybe" i rolled my eyes. "lily i started on yours actually" i said hesitantly. it sounds so weird like hey i drew you as a character in my little brothers comic.

"omg show me"
"no no it's not finished yet, you're just a side character till i make up my mind about the plot"
"i'll take it as im the hot background character people fan over" i just nodded with a smile.

they finished dinner and rose broke out some of her mums wine.

mon and her had a glass, lily had a few sips but i had nothing. alcohol scared me to be honest. i hade a few bites of dinner i couldn't eat anything else.

an hour or so later the lovebirds were giggling and headed upstairs to do god knows what. while lily and i sat downstairs. i was on the floor colouring and lily was behind me. i could feel her presence. all of a sudden she leaned her head over my shoulder and looked at my comic. i was almost done the sketch now.

"you've very talented" she whispered her chin on my shoulder.
"i have to be good at something" i said leaning. back against her crossed legs and looking up at her. something was in the air i could feel it.

"hey you're good at running" she said grabbing either side of my face. her rings were cold on my cheeks.

"i'm alright" i whispered staring into her eyes. her thumb went over my cheek tracing the bone.
"more than alright" she said in the same tone.

suddenly someone came crashing down the stairs. "woah sh sh they were having a moment"

"you shh sorry sorry, we needed more wine"
" did you" i said raising my eyebrow. mon had no pants on and roses shirt was backwards.
"bye hunnybuns" rose giggled and went back upstairs.

"i guess we're in the spare bedroom tonight"
"doesn't sound too bad, wanna go for a swim?" she asked and i hesitated.

"sure" i answered after a minute. i walked outside and grabbed my shorts and long sleeve that i kept here, still hanging on the pool fence from last time.

"fuck getting changed" lily laughed opening the pool gate and taking her shirt off. "you coming?" she said slipping her pants down and jumping in the pool. the only lights out here were radiating from the lounge room.

"fuck it" i mumbled under my breath and took my clothes off. i was clean, a few months, but obviously there was still scars. but she won't see, not in this light. hopefully.

i dove in and came up to her adjusting her bra. i took in a breath and she smiled. "you're cute yknow" she said swimming around me.

"you're cool i guess"
"you don't sound so sure" she laughed and splashed me.
i splashed her back and it turned into a water fight till she grabbed me by my waist and pulled me under. when i resurfaced my face was right next to hers.

the water dripped off her face caught on her eyelashes as she held me close with her arms wrapped around my waist. my body pressed against hers i rest my arms on her shoulders and push her hair back a little. my heart was racing in my chest.

her head tilted slightly and she started leaning closer. i held her head and leant in myself. the second our lips met she smiled and kissed me again a bit more passionately this time.

i pulled away after a second. my heart in my head. "sorry i-"
"you're okay, we can take it slow"
"slow" i repeated.
"whatever you need" i nodded wrapping my around around her neck and squeezing her in a hug. i was so scared right now. i don't think i could mentally take it if this doesn't turn out well.

we swam around the pool for a little longer before heading inside. she went to the spare bedroom to get changed and i had to venture upstairs. i didn't hear anything from roses room so i knocked before heading in. they were sat on her bed laughing and talking.

"hey i just need to borrow pyjamas" i said and rose nodded pointing to her wardrobe.

i grabbed a pair of shorts and a long sleeve. i got changed in her bathroom and stole her brush to take down as i go down the stairs. i brushed the knots from my hair. chunks falling out as i did.

i knocked lightly on the door before going into the guest bedroom. lily was on the bed shorts and a singlet.

"hey sunshine" she smiled dropping her phone to the bed.

"hey, need a brush?"
"oh yes thank you" i passed it over and got in bed myself. it was a king so there was plenty of room.

i had my knees up sketching again. "you spend a lot of time drawing huh?" she asked laying on her side beside me. her head propped up on her arm.

"a lot of the time yeah" i sighed. dropping my book to the floor. minute later. i was so tired.

we said goodnight and she reached over to turn the light off.
