i pushed my food around making it look like i ate more than i did. scarlett was asking everyone about their days. but i can feel her eyes on me.

i'm guessing lizzie told her something. i'm not surprised but i was hoping to have a few days where i didn't have to struggle and i could just live how i used too.

i took a couple more bites before slowing down as everyone else started to finish up. i ate a bit more so it was closer to half before getting up when scarlett's did to clear the plates.

"thank you for dinner" i said offering to clean up but colin took over. i was about to find a bathroom before scarlett quickly stopped me.

"either you actually have to go and i'll wait by the door, or you join the others for a movie" she said soft but firmly. stupid nurse knowledge.

i stared at her for a minute hoping she would back down but she doesn't.
hesitantly i walk to the lounge room next to rose.

i hear colin asking what that was about but scarlett doesn't tell him.
the boys pick the amazing spider-man to no surprise and rose gets me to join her on fashion famous.

it was a good distraction but i hated the way i felt full. i hated how the little food i ate made me feel this bad.

i stared at the screen zoning out as the voting in the game started.

later that night.

after i had a shower i walked back into roses room to find her laying on her back playing with her soccer ball with her feet up. all while still watching tik tok on her phone. girl can multitask.

we were sharing her bed so i laid down pulling my phone out. she joined me after a couple minutes and turned her tv on for background even though we were both in our own worlds.

around 11pm she must've fallen asleep. i turned my phone off so i didn't disturb her and stare at the ceiling.

she had little glow in the dark stars all over her roof and i stared at them just thinking.
next i know it's 4am. like usual, i sigh knowing i probably won't get any sleep tonight.

i roll out of bed carefully and leave roses room. across the hall the boys bedroom has the door open and i walked passed seeing mattie asleep peacefully on cosmos top bunk.

seeing that he was alright i was about to keep walking before a voice behind me made me jump.
"you really care about him don't you?" it was scarlett. i nodded and she walked closer to me. "come on let's get a drink" she placed a hand on the small of my back leading me downstairs.

"what's woken you up?" she asked me. and i wasn't going to tell the truth.
"i just needed some water" i answered and she nodded.

"it was just you and your brother for a while wasn't it?" she questioned not waiting for me to answer before talking again. "you're very scared to do something wrong, i get that. you don't know us but it's okay to relax. we won't hurt you" she assured passing me a glass of water.

"thank you" i said softly.

"how long was your dad and step mum married?"
"only a few months"
"with how much mattie clings to you i expected you guys to grow up together" i just nodded. she was trying to pick me apart i could tell.

"what are you doing up?" i asked a question of my own.
"i take the early shift at the hospital so i can spend the afternoon with my kids" she explained and i nodded.

i was fighting sleep at this point and she gave me a sympathetic smile. "insomnia?" she asked me.

"i don't know" she opens the fridge and reaches to a shelf at the top.

"we have melatonin if you want some, i got it for rose for when she's nervous about games or whatever. two drops under your tongue and you'll be asleep in no time" she passed the vile to me and i took it. i needed it.

she lead me upstairs walking me back to roses room. "goodnight y/n"
"have a good shift" i smiled at her going to lie down.

in the morrow

i woke up to rose shaking me. it was six am meaning i got less than 2 hours of sleep and because of the drug i was drowsy and still tired.

"come on im starving" she said getting up and pulling the covers back to find her socks that had come off in the night.

i got up dispite not wanting to and followed her to wake our brothers.
the 4 of us made it downstairs and found colin cooking a big breakfast.

the thought of food in the morning made me sick. so i politely declined when he asked what i would like.

getting ready for school was chaotic and i wonder if this is what it's like living with siblings. the 4 of us crammed into a bathroom.

colin shouting that it's almost time for to go.

rose has long blond hair which i think looks good in any way but apparently it was horrible. she twisted it into a bun and grabbed her bag of soccer gear.

the boys caught the bus while rose and i walked.
"what time did you go to sleep last night?"

"like 4 after your mother drugged me"
"SHE WHAT"
