-Night Time-
-Third Person POV-
Midnight, after a grueling day at the office, Shikaku could barely summon the energy to put one foot in front of the other. All he wanted now was to collapse onto his bed like a sack of bricks.
Upon entering his home, he exhaled a weary sigh and announced, "I'm home."
Yoshino greeted him with a warm smile, having met him at the very sound of the front door's key turning. "Welcome home, dear."
"You didn't have to wait for me, you know... Are Shikamaru and Akira asleep?" Shikaku's mood lifted slightly at the sight of his wife waiting up for him so late into the night.
"Yeah, they are. Akira only recently came back from his last training session with Makoto, getting briefed on his mission or so Akira told me." She replied, her face complicated.
"What's wrong?" Shikaku asked, his eyes narrowed in slight concern.
Yoshino sighed, "Let's talk about this in the living room, I can't have you standing after a long day."
"I'd appreciate that," Shikaku replied with a smirk.
At that, they leisurely made their way to the sofa in the Living room as they sat down.
Shikaku expertly cloaks all his weariness for the sake of calming his wife's worries - Whatever they are.
"So, talk to me." He said patiently.
"It's just... You know how I dislike Makoto add to the fact he's going on that darned trip tomorrow with Eiichi... He's too young to experience this, he's only 8 Shikaku. He's part of the new generation, he doesn't have to do this." Yoshino in a rare showing of weakness admitted her Motherly woes to her Husband.
Shikaku took in her worries and heaved a deep sigh, "I know, I don't like Makoto either myself. Nevertheless, his skills and teachings are not to be undervalued. You know just as well as I do what Akira now means to the Nara Clan, and soon to the Leaf Village as a whole. According to Eiichi's and Makoto's notes and observations of the kid. His Skills are already Fresh Minted Genin level. That's not taking into account his Kekkei Genkai nor his Assassination specialization. If Eiichi is with him on the trip, you don't have to worry. Eiichi is perhaps the only one other than us who wouldn't risk the boy's safety unless necessary." He explained thoroughly.
Yoshino took the information in and her face began to show frustration, "I get all that... But there is no need to force him to do this is there? I'm proud of him that he's this competent at such an age, more akin to our generation than the current more pampered one. But a Bandit Extermination mission that came out of who knows where? Now? He isn't ready Shikaku." She shook her head at the last sentence.
Shikaku said with a small smile, "No one forced him into this. I have asked Akira multiple times, whether it was continuing with Makoto's training after their first meeting or this mission. He's accepted the training and the Mission - Specifically the mission as long as he doesn't have to eliminate the innocent. The boy wishes to be strong, Dear. It's my job as his Father to help him achieve his goal, the boy isn't naive you know this."
