Perri:
Cassidy is close to her due date now, she's 35 weeks. Two more weeks and she's classed as 'full term'.
"Hey babe." I say as she walks into the kitchen.
"Morning." She says sleepily.
"Do you want some toast?"
"Yeah please." She says hugging me.
I make her some toast and pass her the plate. She takes it but places it on the table in a hurry and rushes into the bathroom. I put everything down and run after her. When I get into the bathroom she's lent over the toilet. I go over and rub her back.
"Look, my cooking's not that bad..." I say.
I hear her giggling which makes me smile. She stands up and washes her mouth out. I kiss her forehead as she leans towards me. I take her back into the living room and pass her the plate of toast.
"I've got to go now, we've got rehearsals." I say sighing.
"Okay, I will call you if I need anything." She says putting her phone next to her.
"Good." I say kissing her.
I grab my phone and keys and make my way out the door.
Cassidy:
I finish my toast and put the plate in the dishwasher. I head into our bedroom to get ready. I pull out my grey joggers and a plain white vest top. I grab my yellow zip-up hoodie pulling it on and walking over to my makeup. I add concealer and mascara, then brush my hair. I go into the bathroom and brush my teeth. Once I'm all ready I go over to make the bed. I begin to straighten out the covers when I get a excruciating pain in my stomach. I hold my belly and lean over the bed. I cry out in pain.
Perri. I need to call Perri.
I clench my tummy and shuffle into the living room. I grab my phone and call Perri. I kneel on the floor over the sofa. No answer.
"C'mon Pel!" I say crying.
I ring him again.
'Sorry babe I couldn't...'
'PEL!' I half shout down the phone not listening to what he was saying.
'What's wrong?' He sounds worried.
'I think the baby's coming...' I say holding my stomach.
'WHAT! Your not due for another 3 or so weeks.'
'I need to go to the hospital NOW!' I cry down the phone.
'I'm on my way. Hold in their babe.' He says before cutting the call off.
Perri arrives 10 minutes later. He rushes through the door to see me lent over the sofa.
"Omg." He says helping me up. "Lets go."
We get into his car and head straight to the hospital. I cry all the way.
"We're nearly there." Pel says placing his hand on my leg.
I get rushed into a labour room and put into one of the gowns. A drip is fixed into my hand and Ava's heart rate is monitored.
"What's happening?" I ask worried as the pain gets worse.
"You are in labour, there is a slight worry because she is a few weeks early, but don't worry." One midwife says.
"Will she be okay?" Perri says.
"There will have to be some checks once she gets here but she should be okay." The midwife says looking at the heart rate reading.
They leave the room so it's just me and Pel.
"I can't do this..." I say as the pain gets even stronger.
"Babe, you can, you've got to!" He says kissing me.
Mine and Perri's parents come bustling into the room.
"Are you okay? What happened? What have they said?" I get too many questions shoved at me that I can't answer them. So Pel answers them for me.
I lie in the room for 4 hours before a midwife comes in to check the progress of the baby.
"Well, Cassidy. You are 7 centimetres dilated. Not long until you can start pushing!"
It's 7pm before I get given the all clear to begin pushing. Pel holds my one hand and my mum holds the other. I'm so exhausted, I can't push any more.
"ONE more push and your baby will be here!" The midwife calls.
I push with all I can and I hear crying- that's not me.
"Born 9:17pm. Congratulations." The midwife calls.
I turn to Perri. He's crying. He leans down and kisses me.
"I love you!" He whispers.
"I love you too!" I cry back.
I look up to see Ava being taken out the room in a bed.
"Where's she going?" I say trying to sit up.
"Don't worry, she's just going to have a quick test, but she will be back soon so you can hold her." The midwife says.
"Is she okay?" Perri says worried.
"She was just breathing abit too quick. She will be fine." She says reassuringly.
"Congratulations!" Everyone says.
I just want to see my baby...
