Chapter 2 Part 4: Baby Ava.

Cassidy:

Me and Perri wait for what seems like hours before Ava is brought back into the room.

"Here is your beautiful baby girl!" The midwife says passing me Ava.

"Oh my gosh! Hello little one!" I say holding her close. I place my finger in her hand and she closes her tiny fingers around mine.

"Do you want to hold her?" I say smiling up at Pel, who was crying again.

He wipes his eyes and nods. I carefully hand over Ava to him smiling as she opens her eyes for the first time. Perri rocks her and kisses her tiny head.

"Ava is smaller than a baby born at full term, but its nothing to be worried about. She's had a full examination and she's healthy." The midwife says.

"That's good news." My dad says.

Everyone from our family holds Ava. They take many pictures and cry for awhile. Perri texts the boys telling them that Ava has arrived. I think they are coming over tomorrow to see her. It's midnight and I'm really tired. I feed Ava her first bottle then pass her over to Pel. She starts to cry but Perri has a way with kids- she stops crying within seconds.

"I'm going to have a nap." I say getting comfy.

"Okay, my mum is going to get me and you some spare clothes and grab Ava's bag."

"Tell her I say thankyou." I say closing my eyes.

I wake up to the sound of Ava crying. I roll over picking her up pulling her close to my chest. A midwife comes in to help me change her first nappy.

"Your a natural!" She says as she watches me change her.

"Thanks." I say placing her back in the little crib next to me.

Perri is fast asleep in the chair next to me. I smile and get back into bed.

Perri:

It's 8am and we've been told we can go home this afternoon because there is nothing wrong with Cassidy or Ava. Ashley, Jordan and Danielle are coming over at 11am to she her.

"Morning babe, has it sunk in yet that we have a baby?" I ask kissing her on the forehead.

"Only a bit. I changed her nappy last night when you were asleep." She says looking over at Ava sleeping in her bed.

"How did that go?"

"Really well. It's your turn next though!"

The midwife comes in and we sign the birth certificate. Me and Cassidy both get changed into something comfy. I put on a plain white t-shirt and black jeans and Cassidy wears some navy blue joggers and a white vest top.

"Shall we show the world our baby?" Cassidy asks. "They don't even know her name!"

"Yeah. It will stop all the questions."

I upload the photo with the caption: 'Welcome to the world beautiful Ava Belle! So proud of CassidyBaxter! xx'

Within minutes the tweet gets over 2000 retweets!

Cassidy:

After I uploaded the photo, I got loads of notifications. I don't read them all as it would take all day. I lock my phone when there is a knock on the door.

"Come in!" I call.

Ashley, Jordan and Danielle all come through into the room.

"Aw! Hello little cutey!" Dani says.

"Congrats you two, you make beautiful children!" Ash says hugging me and Pel.

"She's going to grow up to be a star!" Jordan says smiling down to Ava.

"You can hold her if you like!" I say passing her to Ashley.

"So, how was it?" Dani asks hugging me.

"Horrible!" I say. "But worth it!" I smile as Jordan holds Ava.

"This is when everything changes." Ash says sitting at the end of the bed.

"Yeah, I know. Lots of hard work ahead!" Pel says raising his eyebrows.

Ash, Jord and Dani stay for a hour or so, they take some picture before they have to go back to Dancework. As they leave the midwife comes in. She gives us information packs and tells us when she will drop by to see how Ava's doing. We thank her then start to collect all our things from around the room. Family and friends have given us baby clothes, teddies, balloons and much more. I place Ava into her little carrier and buckle her in well. I grab the bags as Perri carries Ava to the car. He is so proud. It's nice to see him so happy.

We pack everything into his car. I sit in the back with Ava just to be safe. When we arrive home Ava starts to cry.

"I will go make her a bottle." Pel says heading into the kitchen.

I get her out of her carrier and take her into the living room. Perri comes in with a bottle and he sits down next to me as I feed her. After Perri's burped Ava he takes her into her new room and places her in the cot. He turns on the musical toy above the crib to help her sleep.

There's a knock on the door, so I go and answer it.

"Hey babes!" Sadie says hugging me. "I want to see the little princess!"

I show her into Ava's room and we peer over the crib.

"She's adorable!" Sadie whispers. "You make a beautiful little girl!" She says.

Perri goes and makes us all some drinks.

"I'm just glad to be home with a healthy baby." Pel says passing us our drinks.

"Well, that is the main thing!" Sadie says.

Once Sadie goes home, I go and check on Ava. She's sound asleep. I pull her door too and head back into our room.

"I'm so proud of you." Pel says pulling me close.

"Thankyou." I say kissing him.

We get changed into our pjs and curl up in bed, waiting for Ava to start crying.
