The feeling of the warm laundry fresh out of the dryer made you feel a sense of comfort, you began folding all the clean clothes as you sat on the sofa. The smell of laundry always reminded you of your mum, you would always fold the laundry together when you lived at home.
You paused for a moment and inhaled slowly taking in the scent as your eyes closed and your head filled with all the memories of your family who were all back in England. You let out a deep sigh as you felt a sting in your chest. You missed them.
You were happy to move to Spain with Jude, and you were so proud of him and all he was achieving but being here with him came with a lot of sacrifices for you.
Denise had flown over to visit for a few weeks which was nice, you were happy that Jude still got to see his family despite his busy schedule but it just made you miss your mum even more.
You cleared your throat as you tried to stop thinking of all your friends and family that you hadn't seen in a while and refocused on folding the laundry and putting it away.
You tried to distract yourself so you pulled out the hoover and began hoovering the whole house. Time escaped you for a few hours as you focused on hoovering making sure that every inch of your home was spotless.
The loud noise of the hoover drowned out the sound of the front door opening and closing.
"Hi baby." You heard in your ear as you felt a hand against your shoulder pull you from your trance.
You jumped at the feeling of Jude's hand on your shoulder and your hand immediately placed itself over your rapidly moving chest as you took a few steps back.
"Wo, are you alright babe?" Jude said as he turned off the hoover and took a few steps forward so he could place his hand against your arm reassuringly.
"Yeah sorry, just scared me, I didn't realise the time." You said as you kept your head down and steadied your breathing.
"You sure babe" Jude asked as he looked up at you with a suspicious look.
"Yeah" you said as you faked a smile. And pressed a quick kiss to his cheek as you walked passed him.
"Hi darling" you heard as you walked into the kitchen.
"Hi Denise, how are you." You said as she pulled you into a hug.
"Yeah I'm ok, feel a bit weird that I'm going to be leaving soon but it was nice coming to visit you both." She smiled as she unloaded some shopping bags into the fridge.
"It's been really nice having you with us D, we love it when you come and visit." You smiled.
"Aww you're so kind y/n, but I know you two want your alone time." She smiled back at you sweetly.
"No honestly, we're with each other everyday and I love it, but it's always nice having family over." You said genuinely
"Has your family been over?" Denise asked stopping you in your tracks as you reached for a bottle of water, the sound of Jude entering the room pulled your focus and allowed you to digest the uneasy feelings you had been having all day.
"Uhh, no" you responded quietly as you pulled the bottle out of the fridge and walked back to where you were leaning.
"How come?" Denise asked chirpily, not catching on to your discomfort on the topic.
"Um, well, everyone's really busy, with work and my younger siblings all have school so my parents can't leave them and they can't pull them out of school either, so I really just see them when we go back to England." You said avoiding eye contact with anyone in the room.
"When was the last time you saw them?" Denise asked with sympathy in her voice.
"Uh, about, 4 months." You said swallowing the lump in your throat.
Jude hears the sadness in your voice and his arms wrap around you from behind, providing you with some comfort that you desperately craved.
"4 months, that's crazy, I couldn't go 4 months without seeing Jude, I'm sure they miss you so much." Denise said with a large frown across her face. "Why don't you go and visit them?" She asked.
"Jude needs me here." You shrugged your shoulders trying to push the tears away.
"He can survive without you for a few weeks." Denise spoke softly
"A few weeks? Yeah not sure about that." Jude laughed as he held onto you tighter.
"It's not funny Jude, she's upset." Denise snapped at Jude.
"Are you upset baby?" Jude asked as he let go of you and spun you around to face him. He lifted your chin up so you were facing him, as soon as your eyes met his you couldn't hold it back anymore, Jude realised straight away as his face filled with sympathy.
Your eyes slowly welled up as he looked between both your eyes, the tears were silent as they fell down your face quickly, a few seconds later your tears were accompanied by your cry causing Jude to pull your face into his chest.
"Aww my baby, please don't cry." He said as he placed his lips to your temple as he stroked your back lovingly.
You couldn't respond as you began to choke on your floods of tears. Jude's large hands continued to rub against your body soothing you slightly.
He lifted you into his arms and carried you out of the room and into your shared bedroom, he sat down on the bed and placed you on top of him in straddling position.
"It's ok baby, I've got you, don't cry beautiful." Jude whispered in your ear but you couldn't control the tears that were falling.
You cried into the crook of his neck dampening his skin and clothes, Jude continued to kiss anywhere that his lips would reach without moving you from his neck, he held you tightly until you were a little bit calmer.
You pulled your head from Jude's neck and faced him, he immediately wiped away your tears with his thumbs, he looked as if he could cry as well.
"My beautiful girl, I hate seeing you like this. I'm sorry I didn't realise how much you missed your family, we will absolutely go and visit them as soon as possible, just please don't cry I can't bare seeing you like this." Jude said as he pulled you back into his arms.
You sniffled and settled down, Jude was such a warm and comforting presence for you, nothing seemed as bad when he held you in his arms.
"I love you baby." He said in a whisper.
You pulled back once again and placed your lips against his kissing him softly.
"I love you too." You responded before you rested your head back to Jude's chest as you closed your eyes.
