no matter the lengths i go
it doesn't much matter
so why don't i go to no lengths
and wait for the lengths to come to me
wasting energy isn't much my style
ill work if you're working
ill talk if you're talking
but then, at the same time
ill make a little effort
to save you from the thought
of how much effort you put in comparison
because yes, i put in the same effort as you
but you initiate
so here and there, I'll give you chances to talk,
chances to say the things you want
and in return
i expect you to try as much as you feel
that this friendship is important
and i? i couldn't care less, i could take or leave it
so your effort tells me
much of everything i will need to know
a part of me wants to tear the wool from your eyes
but most wants to let you be
because then you wouldn't see how much
both of us have changed
you're trying to shout but not a sound comes out
and you should have woken up by now
i can't stress how much you need to try
and i hope you don't mind if i can't
hold you like i used to
i hope you realize this is a bump in the road
and you need to keep on trying.
