❛ YOU PROMISED. ❜ 43. Depressive ❛ SEASON 06 EPISODE 05 ❜
It burns— my eyes and the gape of nothingness pinching my heart; and still, I couldn't place an emotion on it. This isn't something that's easily explained, nor something that could put into one word. It's not normal, it's really strange and confusing yet so familiar. The emotion welcomed me with open arms as I wallow in my own pity and misery. It hurts, but ir was also comforting.
I haven't blinked, not for a while now, not since the what's happening out there was all but screamed by the singular group that made it back. The happiness I had for their safe return crumbled, replacing itself with woe and worry upon remembering Glenn was still out there, with Nicholas and thousands of walkers.
Fuck. It's the only word I could think of. Nothing else.
A shadow threatens me, looming over me as I lean against the front gate, drowning the sun that kissed my skin. Their presence couldn't be any more clearer, but I ignore them. I refused to even look their direction.
"Don't worry too much." I scoff, "He's a survivor and you know it." Deciding against responding, I stare at the empty road ahead. "Standing at the gate isn't gonna to make him magically appear in front of it."
"You don't understand." I breathe continuing to stare at the emptiness agead. "He keeps getting himself into situations like this. He can't keep doing it and surviving, one day it'll catch up to him and I'm hoping it's not today." I turn away from the gate, looking up at Kareem, "But.. maybe today's the day."
"You shouldn't think like that.." Kareem says, "You can't think like that." He places a hand atop of my shoulder.
"How should I think?" I question, glaring at him. "Tell me what I should do and I'll do it!"
Small bumps pop across my skin like waves, tickling the darkened hairs growing from it, which influenced the hairs on the nape of my neck to stand tall. At first, I thought it could've been caused by the anger I was feeling, but when listening to the sound of a deep voice whistling throughout the winds, I jump.
Someone was screeching for me to do something, but I couldn't quite hear them.
"Kendall?" Kareem calls my name, noticing my change in expression, "Are you okay?"
"Shh." I murmur, shrugging his hand from my shoulder to face the gates once again. "Can you hear that?" Narrowing my eyes at the road ahead, I listen.
