❗Short Chapter❗ This is short because I'm sick and my body hurts, but I still wanted to release this chapter because I wanted to finish it this week. I want to complete this book before Christmas break ends. Only 2 chapters left after this.
The next day, I found myself on the rooftop of the hospital, laying peacefully on the ground looking at the sky. The clouds drifted above, offering a calm view. As I lost myself in thought, the sound of approaching footsteps disrupted my peaceful mind.
I looked up to see who those footsteps belonged to and it was Shikamaru. "Hey, Shika," I greeted him softly and fixed my eyes back on the clouds.
"Yo," Shikamaru responded, joining me on the rooftop. He lay down beside me. We laid there for a moment without saying anything until he spoke up.
"Tsunade told me to find you when I came to visit. Figured you'd be here," he said and I replied with an, "Ohh."
As the wind brushed over us on that rooftop, I moved around. "I didn't want to be locked up in the room, I just wanted some space."
"Yeah, it does make sense," he responded. We went back into another comfortable silence, and then I couldn't help but think back again.
Then, I could feel a frown my forehead, and I found myself speaking, "I didn't mean it." Shikamaru turned to face me. I sighed, my gaze returning to the sky.
"It was like I blacked out, and someone else took over my body, and—" Before I could continue any further, Shikamaru's hand found mine.
"You don't have to explain," he interrupted. "I know you wouldn't do that willingly. I trust you, Kaiya." I smiled a little at his words and closed my eyes.
My mind was on Naruto, wondering what he was doing. Should I ask or not. It won't hurt. "How is Naruto doing?" I inquired.
Shikamaru, looking at the sky, responded, "He's doing fine, you know. Either he's huddled up in his home, drowning in an unhealthy amount of cup ramen noodles, or you'll find him on the swing."
I couldn't help but let out a small sigh. Then I felt a sudden regret, I admitted, "I know it's not my fault. I'm just mad at the words he said and also at mine and just disappointed in how everything turned out."
"You two been friends since kids, things small thing isn't going to change your friendship with him."
"You're right." I smiled even though I could hear deep down in my head those words, 'I hate you.'
However, our thoughts was quickly interrupted by the heavy approach of footsteps. In sync, both of us sprang up, exclaiming, "Tsunade!"
The rooftop door swung open with force, revealing an angry Tsunade. Without warning, she punched us both on the side of our head. "Shikamaru I didn't send you to go lollygag! I told you to find her and bring her back," Tsunade scolded us.
Before we could udder a word she grabbed us by the ear, dragging us into the room. "Wait Tsuna! I'm already hurt, are you trying to make me worse," I cried.
"I don't care, you caused me a lot of trouble." She opened the door to the room and threw us inside. "I could've been finished if I wasn't waiting on you, and I would be drinking my sake!"
"Should a Hokage and the topic medic should be even drinking this much of sake anyway," I said out loud and I quickly shut my mouth. "I didn't mean that," I stuttered and stepped back.
"Well, won't you look at the time." Shikamaru looked at his invisible watch to which I glared at. "Looks like Asuma-sensei is calling me." That doesn't even make sense!
