2 Weeks Later
The sun was just beginning its descent as I made my way towards the borders of Konoha. The breeze rustled the leaves, and the familiar sounds of the village slowly faded behind me. After weeks of recovery, I had finally been assigned a B-rank mission – a significant step forward for me. Took a lot of for me to convince Tsunade and Shizune to let me go on a mission by myself, but in the end it worked. Though, she said if I failed I would be back to D-rank mission for a month.
The mission was to go to the Kali Village and drop off some important documents and return them to Konoha. It sounded simple enough, but I knew to never underestimate a mission like my first "C-rank" mission.
As I walked through the dense forest, my senses heightened. The air carried a mix of earth and pine, and the occasional rustle in the bushes made me alert. The mission brief had warned about the possibility of encountering bandits on the way, so I kept a tight grip on the hilt of my kunai.
The path was narrow, surrounded by towering trees that cast elongated shadows. I moved with caution, my eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of trouble. The Kali Village wasn't too far, it was just outside the Fire Village.
The sun dipped below the horizon, and the forest grew darker. I activated my Keinsigan, allowing me to see the chakra signatures around me. The faint glow of animals and the rustling leaves came into view. No signs of bandits yet, but I couldn't let my guard down.
It was awkward at first, with his lazy attitude. I wasn't sure how I was going to survive living with him , but as the days passed, I got used to it.
Most of our interactions we in the morning and late at night when he just came from missions. He'd ask about my days, and I would ask about his mission. You would think we didn't know each other if you heard us talking. But as the days passed, we began to loosen up around each other.
One thing I quickly discovered living with him is that Kakashi's cooking skills. The man could barely cook anything edible, except for fish. I don't know how he managed to do it, but I found myself eating fish for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
His living room, to my surprise, most of them were not ninja-related had with a massive bookshelf, filled with different types of books. However, they looked like they haven't been touched since he got them. Living with him is... interesting
My mind focused back on the mission when then details echoed in my mind. Kali Village, a place known for its unique challenges. I had to be careful, especially since this was my first solo mission. The Kali Village was still a considerable distance away, and I needed to plan. This village was in the shadows which meant danger could be anywhere. How Tsunade described it, sounded like a Nara dream come true.
With a deep breath, I reassured myself. I jumped and started leaping through the trees. I wanted to cover as much as I could before it gets too dark. I sped of keeping a steady pace, looking at my surroundings.
My white hair billowed behind me in the wind, and the rustling branch beneath my feet slightly made noise I leap from one to another. The forest embraced me, the deeper I went in. My senses heightened, and the cool night air brushed against my skin.
It didn't take long for it to get dark, the moon hung in the night sky, casting a gentle glow on the forest around me. I decided it was time to stop for the night. Finding a good area, I landed on the forest floor, leaves crunching beneath my feet.
I surveyed the area, before settling down, my ninja instincts kicked in. I reached into my pouch, pulling out a set of simple traps, one of the few things Tsunade drilled in my mind. Carefully, I placed them around the perimeter, relying on muscle memory to set them with precision.
