Alone in the hospital room, I watched as Kakashi and Sakura prepared to leave for their mission. "We're about to leave," Kakashi said. "Be safe."I managed a warm smile. "Have a safe trip, you two."
Sakura, brimming with energy, reassured me, "Don't worry. I'll make sure Naruto doesn't do something stupid." She pumped up her arm. "Even if it means knocking some sense into him!"
Kakashi patted the top of my head. In response, I leaned in for a small hug. "Uh... tell Naruto I said be safe," I requested.
"We will. And you take care of yourself," Sakura promised. With that, they walked out the door, leaving me alone in the hospital room.
"Bye, Sakura, bye, Papashi!" I called after them, calling Kakashi that one more time, to bother him. I could almost hear Kakashi's amused sigh as they fully left.
As the door closed, my smile waned, and I found myself thinking in the empty room. What was I supposed to do all day?
As I looked the loneliness of the hospital room, a sudden realization hit me – my summoning animals! They should be done with their transformations by now. With happiness, I formed the necessary hand seals and focused my chakra, summoning Masato and Yoshi. I haven't seen them in weeks!
In a burst of smoke, the two adorable cubs with wings appeared before me. Excitement flowed from them as they greeted me in unison, "Kaiya!" With an agile leap, they jumped onto my chest, nuzzling their heads against me before retreating.
"Masato, Yoshi!" I greeted them with a smile, examining their features. Their little wings were growing on their backs, and I could see that their fangs had developed slightly. They were growing, both in size and in their similarity to their father.
The cubs, having a lot energy, bombarded me with a barrage of questions. "How are you?" "Did you miss us?" "How do you think we look?" "Do we look like our father, or even better?" "Did anything interesting happen while we were away?" "Is being a Jonin better than a Chunin?" "You're in a hospital, why?" "Why are you in a hospital?"
I couldn't help but sweatdrop at the onslaught of questions. "Calm down, I'm right here," I reassured them, patting their heads. "I'm fine, and yes, I did miss you guys very much. You both look great, and it won't take long before you look exactly like your dad. The only interesting thing that happened was me losing a bit of control, and that's why I'm in the hospital. Nothing too serious."
They listened attentively as I explained, and when I finished, they jumped up and down in excitement. "We're glad you're alright," they declared simultaneously, exchanging a quick glance.
"We'll spend the whole day with you!" they shouted in unison. "Since we're grown, we're able to spend more time with you here!"
I couldn't help smile at their eagerness. "That's great. I needed some company," I replied.
Yoshi couldn't contain his excitement and spoke up, "Let me tell you what happened to dad last week." He burst into laughter, but Masato quickly nudged him.
"I thought dad said not to tell anybody," Masato reminded him.
Yoshi, unfased, replied, "But he's not here, so he won't know if anyone doesn't tell him." He grinned mischievously, looking at me as if looking permission for his secret.
I couldn't help but laugh at their little exchange. "Don't worry, I won't tell anybody," I assured them.
"See?" Yoshi turned to Masato, triumphantly. Masato sighed in mock defeat. "Fine," he conceded, a hint of amusement in his voice.
"Last week, he took us to the hill the one covered with flowers so we could train. And just as he was about to show us, he slipped on something."
"The day before we playing there and we had left a bunch of banana peels and he stepped on them. We watched my dad's legs flew out from under him...and ..and he began to roll down the hill. He even started roaring but it turned into yelps as he rolled down more!"
