Naruto's POV

I laid atop a giant leaf on Mt. Myoboku, looking up at the sky, all I could do was think about y/n, it felt, strange to be without her, since she's always been here for me and with me.

'I hope you're watching over me y/n, I know you'll keep me safe even if you aren't here' I thought to myself as I sighed

"Ah, there you are" Fukasaku said

"Huh?" I said as I turned and looked at him

"Every once in a while you disappear, Naruto-boy, where do you go?" Fukasaku asked me

"Oh, uh, nowhere in particular, really, I just kind of wonder around" I said looking at him

"Well, no matter, we're going to practice that merging I talked about, why don't you come on down?" Fukasaku asked me as I sat up

"I hope they're ok" I said looking down

I knew that the Akatsuki has been after me this whole time, and so many people are risking everything to keep me safe, y/n haven giving her life to protect me one way or another.

"What do you mean?" Fukasaku asked me

"I know that the Akatsuki are after me, well, I've been worried that they'll come looking for me in the Leaf village" I said as I looked to the side, my mind drifting to y/n once again, sometimes I wish I could forget

It's been 6 days since here passing, and it still feels like it's only been 1, my heart still clenched at the image of her laying there in the Hokage's office.

"You're a fool" Fukasaku said as he took me out of my thoughts

"Huh?" I asked in surprise

"There are many distinguished ninja in the Hidden Leaf village, so stop all of this unnecessary worrying and concentrate on the work at hand, besides, if something were to happen they'd send a messenger frog to let us know" Fukasaku explained to me

I looked at the Toad for a few seconds before his words fully settled in, a soft smile making its way to my face.

"All right then let's try this merging thing" I said to him

"Alright, this is the final step of Sage mode, we'll now begin merge training" Fukasaku explained to me

"Ah, ok, so basically, you're just going to sit on my shoulder and attach yourself to me, right?" I asked him

"Correct" Fukasaku said as he jumped onto my shoulder

"Whole you're in motion, I'll stay still and I'll draw in nature energy for you, this training will help us to hone that merging process" Fukasaku told me

"Mm" I said with a small nod, closing my eyes

"Now, let us begin by synchronizing our breathing" Fukasaku said

"Right" I said with a small nod

I tried to synchronize my breathing with Fukasaku, but within a second, the toad was launched from my shoulder, landing on his back.

"Oh—-oh, are you ok, Geezer toad?" I asked him worriedly, watching as he got up

"How very strange, alright, let's try it one more time" Fukasaku said jumping back over to me, jumping on my shoulder and out his hands together again

I looked at him for a second before closing my eyes again, concentrating on doing what he told me to.

"Sage art, Amphibian jutsu" Fukasaku said
