"Do you remember the last Christmas you had with your mum?" I asked Jasmine.
"I remember parts of it, like opening presents with her, mum and dad dancing together with me in tow, but not really." She replied.
"Christmas morning, your ran into your parents room, bouncing on their bed to wake them up, eager to open all your presents.
You sat on your mum's knee as you tore open each present, overwhelmed by everything you'd been bought. Alfie still talks about that day recounting the huge smile on both yours and your mum's faces.
Me and Henry cam over to give you our presents, getting - let's say - tipsy with Ella and Alfie, which is when Alfie took your mother's hand in his and started twirling her around the living room, it was a good day to say the least.
Later that night when we'd left and you were asleep, Ella and Alfie sat on the sofa, led in each other's arms. Ella was upset, Alfie asked her what was wrong but your mother simply smiled and told him nothing that she was just happy.
In reality, Ella knew that it was her last Christmas, remembering the baby she'd lost, she thought about how she should've been pregnant, you should've had a sibling and it brought tears to her eyes, confirming that no matter how good her days had been she would always ache and long for the baby she had lost.
Boxing day night, it snowed, so you three went outside and built a snowman together all of you happy and belting out Christmas songs in the process, of course this only led to a snow ball fight so after Ella went inside and made hot chocolate to warm you all up and then together, you watched a movie until you fell sound asleep. Ella carried you to bed, tucked you in and placed a kiss on your forehead whispering an 'I love you, goodnight'.
Then, Alfie took Ella outside, sat in one of the chairs with Ella sat on his knee, wrapped in multiple blankets, content in his embrace. They were surrounded by darkness the only light coming from the dull shine of the moon and stars. The only sound was their hearts beating together almost as if they were one. They were comfortable in each other's company and madly in love. As Alfie slowly kissed his girl, savouring the moment, he thought this was the beginning of their story together, but she knew their story together was coming to an end."
