Jodie - Now

The next few days were particularly difficult for the Wilson's as now both of them knew the truth, the whole story of what led Ella to make the decision she had.

Alfie had worked up the courage to take Jasmine to visit where her mother's ashes had been spread. Jasmine had never actually been before but she gladly took my hand as we got out of the car and began the walk to Ella's resting place ; Ella's meadow.

We all sat down on a blanket in the field where flowers where scattered around everywhere and a river flowing in the near distance, it was Ella's place and though it sounds odd I could feel her presence near whenever I came here.

"Did I ever tell you about the time me and Ella ran away together?" Alfie randomly asked me.

"No!" I said shocked.

"We woke up one morning, Ella turned up at mine distraught, I was just as stressed. I let her in and just held her in my arms for a while but then I got this idea and that was that. I got up, packed a bag and said lets go. She didn't once question me, just simply followed me. I'll never forget her face that day, she had hope in her eyes. We both had this crazy idea that if we walked away from our lives and moved somewhere new we'd be able to leave the pasts that haunted us behind. We were young and naïve to think that but we both needed the break.

We got on a train to London of all places, turned our phones off and lived in our own bubble for a few days.

We wanted to stay and build a new life of course we both knew it wasn't possible and after a week or so we both came home and soon found out that Jasmine was on her way.

We made a promise to one another that we'd move when we were financially stable in the future." Alfie told me.

"I remember that week vividly, she terrified me, you both did because neither of you answered your bloody phones." I replied giving him a dirty look.

"Anyway, obviously we never did move. Jasmine had all of her friends here and Ella in the end didn't want to leave you and Becky and Lauren. So, we decided that when Jasmine turned sixteen and had completed high school we'd move to where Ella had always dreamed of living." Alfie replied.

"New York." I whispered, terrified he'd say yes to my question, I very cautiously asked, "Are you still planning to move?"

"No, it wouldn't be the same without her but I am going to take Jasmine for a week or so on her sixteenth."

"She'll love that." I said smiling at him.

Then Alfie got up to find Jasmine who'd gone for a walk, exploring her mother's favourite place.

"Ella, I know it's been a while since I last came here, if I'm being honest it breaks me a little more each time I'm here, but I want you to know that not a day goes by where I don't think of you.

I miss you, I miss my best friend. I have to tell you this that you could never be replaced as there is no one like you. You've given me hope that I'll one day see you again, it's all I'll ever want to see you once more."
