Grian regrets his decisions.
He wasn't ready for this! He should've just sat in his base and stewed in the mean thoughts. Yeah. That would work.
However, he'd already knocked on her door. It was too late, she'd answer at any second.
(BEGIN SONG)
The dark oak door creaked open, revealing a light-brown haired person. She gazed at him with her trusting blue eyes, true feelings closed off. She didn't trust Grian anymore, and he couldn't blame her.
" Hello, Pearl. I was.. hoping we could talk about, er, ... Evo."
She paused, considering something. The stars reflected off her eyes, giving them an otherworldly look.
" I guess. Come on in."
Grian enters, marveling at the interior. It's more woodsy, although also clearly inspired by the night sky. Handwoven moon-shaped dream catchers, feathers, rustic paintings and fractured pottery pieces are everywhere. They stop a deep navy couch, with Pearl seating herself at a chair on the other side of a coffee table.
" So,"
" So?"
" Thanks for letting me in, I.. I uh understand your wariness."
Pearl nods at this.
" How was Evo after I... left?"
Pearl pauses, considering. Grian fidgets with his hands.
" It kindof fell apart.. you know, without the admin it was difficult. Glitches plagued us all summer, till we finally left.."
Ooh, that stung. Grian winced, looking up at her. She had that same guarded look. Grian hated himself for causing that look. Silence fills the void between them; the ravine just a tad too deep.
He remembers it all. He's replayed it too many times to count.
The large Watcher stand over the Evolutionists. They stare up, some hostile, some fearful, and some just flat out confused ( Jimmy).
" Foolish ones. You thought we'd help without a price?"
They had a deep voice. It was dark, twisted.
" We want one of you, however foolish."
They had turned to Grian. One had grinned, showing void-black teeth dripping with a strange purple liquid.
When he'd look back now, he'd realize. He never should've gone. He should've fought for his players.
He should've known.
" We want him."
~
" Look, I'm so- so sorry. I never should've left, I should've fought them. I should've done everything in my power to stay and protect you all and -"
Grian was rambling. He stopped.
" I go back to that December night, oh-so-much. Escaping the Watcher's wasn't worth it when I knew you all were trapped in that stupid, stupid world."
Grian had started crying.
~
" Do we really want Grian as a watcher? "
