take a deep breath in the mirror,

Scar's eyes search the thin glass, like a window, hanging on his wall. He-he was supposed to meet Grian today.

..

He didn't know if he could do it, after the nightmares, the sand and the velvet keep- Take another breath, grab your bag, leave. It's... fine.

he didn't like it when i wore high heels,

He adjusts his shirt.

"PUT YOUR SHIRT ON, SCAR!"

Screeches in his head, but it's faint, foggy. Like all the memories of screaming he can recover when he wakes.

but i do.

It's fine, he can do this, this is his fucking boyfriend, nothing changed because of the stupid dreams. It was a stressful situation anyway, even if they weren't actually going to die, even if they were going to wake up.

Scar doesn't know if he's the only one who got the dreams.

...

he doesn't want to know.

turn the lock and put my headphones on,

He pets his purring cats, slipping the headphones over his ears and stepping into the very bright sunshine.

he always said he didn't get this song,

The near silent sound is eerily similar to that disk, from the dark caves where he was never allowed. Where he.. immediately went anyway.

After he needed to escape the rules and cutting words.

but i do. i do

!!

The walk is fine enough; slightly windy, maybe. Maybe Scar's trying to delay himself. From seeing his own partner.

This is a mess.

Grian is kind, sweet, perhaps sassy but it's not in an unkind way.

(Grian is screaming and rules and fear and restlessness-)

Walked in expecting you'd be late

The cafe isn't packed; filled with idly moving cats either sunning themselves or buried in the soft beds littering the place. The color scheme is a gentle pastel that's fairy-tale like in the wonderful daylight streaming in two windows placed at the front of the shop; both windows have signs painted on them advertising this little place.
