Scar frowned, walking along the old sidewalk. Earlier that day, he'd found Grian missing from Homeroom. The vex knew it was his fault, afterall, he couldn't expect the secret to stay for so long. Scar knew that stupid bird would tattle.
"Scar? Did you see that flash of red?"
" what, darling?"
Scar looked through the windshield at the dense forest infront of them. Hey, wasn't this near Grian's house?
The red came through again. Scar gasped. It was Professor Beak.
He'd heard it all.
Scar just wished he could make it right.
His phone dings, someone in a large groupchat he doesn't remember joining informing everyone about a ' epik partyyy at gri's '
The elf froze. Maybe, just maybe, he could make it right.
~
Scar kept walking down the cobble road, lost in haunting thought.
What if I showed up at your party?
Would you have me, would you want me?
Scar can see it, the darkness fading around the small lanterns that mark Grian's front door. The heavily scented flowers in his hands, lilacs & poppies because those are his favorites. Scar can see the light, spruce door.
He hesitates before knocking, the door cracking open to reveal a frozen Grian in his favorite red cardigan.
What would he say?
Would he tell me to go fuck myself?
Scar doesn't know, he doesn't know anything.
But he knows he missed Grian desperately.

Scar knew what happened, what lead to it all. as he walks that crappy path to his house. He remembered shying away from the dancing at a party, because " My legs are too weak.. I don't want to embarrass myself."
He remembered Grian's sweet voice. "Ok!"
Grian never pressured him.
He remembers seeing Grian dance with Mumbo, platonically of course. He remembers leaving the party, self-hate sinking in. He remembers the crunch of gravel underneath spinning tires as Cub rolled up.
~
Scar remembers late nights of playing with Grian's parrot, of preening wings & watching movies & eating popcorn. He remembers listening to the bird's chirping, phrases from random TV shows.
He never expected the bird to one day chirp away all his secrets.
Scar kicks a rock, the evening light shining delicately through bunches trees whose leaves are just now shedding.
Should he go to that party? Did he even belong?
Scar kept running through increasingly dark scenarios. Each one broke his heart just abit more. Grian screaming at him, frozen in fear, sobbing.
Perhaps Grian would lead Scar to his little garden filled with small plants. Perhaps Scar could gush & apologize.
Perhaps Grian would forgive him.
Or, perhaps he would shout about how Scar ruined it all.
And then he'd leave Scar to cry quietly, because he'd lost the only thing he knew.
~ ( musik break)
As Scar approaches his house, the familiar sound of crunching gravel shoves him into a memory, away from Grian's party.
The loud crunch of gravel drew Scar from his self-pity. It was Cub. Perfect, beautiful Cub, with his dark hair and mysterious eyes. His inviting smile.
" Scar! Cmon, get in, let's drive!"
Those days turned into summer nights spent next to him.
But Scar dreamt of Him all summer long, in fields, in the back of rented cars.
He never left Scar.
~ (music break)
It was the night of the party. Scar held the lilacs & poppies in his hand tightly, adjusting his rather casual clothes. The dim light of lanterns shine in the darkness, just like Scar had envisioned.
Anxiety bubbles in his chest as he approaches the spruce door. The door he'd unlocked oh-so-many times, for school projects & date nights. For sleepovers & study sessions.
The door he'd unlock now.
With a slight knock, Scar hit the door. There was some footsteps that stood out from the rest of the party's noise. There was the familiar sound of the lock clicking open.
The door swung open.
...
" scar......?"
Grian stared at him with wide eyes. A million different universes scattered, each with separate moments and different endings.
Scar crying.
Grian screaming.
The enchanting garden, hiding snakes.
More endings than you could imagine.
But alas, we are here, and here is now.
But what did Grian do?
We will never know.
All we will know is that Scar missed Grian. He missed kissing under streetlights, he missed eating strange popcorn combinations, he missed watching Grian nap half-way through Hamilton.
And Grian?
That is left to be discovered.
Until next time friends.
