The first clue, the first step in solving the infamous case of one young Xelqua son. Reported missing ages ago, only a year before the well-known mass suicide of The Watcher's Guild. Not one person survived, only their burning compound was left.
Now, Scar had been tasked with piecing together the lives of the Xelquas, how they started their cult, and what lead up to it- along with what caused the tragic end. Where better to start than the very location that 'Grian' once lived in?
"Hello?"
The small town is hidden in a grove. They'd installed a fence after thousands had stormed Evo, trying to learn more- Scar had been given permission to enter. Pretty much. Anyway, a green puffy-jacketed guy appears wearing a headband that waved in the wind. He was accompanied by a frowning, brown-eyed canary.
"Hello! The names Scar, I'm here to learn more about Grian Xelqua's li-"
"We don't talk about Grian."
"Oh! I'm sorry, but I'm writing an article studying the rise and fall of the Guild and-"
"We. Don't. Talk. About. Grian."
"but..."
The canary murmurs, smacking Martyn with his wing and folding his arms. Martyn glared at the man, turning back to Scar.
"But, it was our opening day.."
Jimmy grinned, ruffling his wings as he tied a tie. Martyn was also prepared, adjusting his badge. The neighborhood needed a government, and they were bringing it to them.
"We were getting ready, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky.."
The HQ looked wonderful- sure, the pair expected resistance, it was Evolution, but they figured that the Property Police could do real good.
"Grian walks in with a mischievous grin.."
They hadn't been present when it happened. Grian, filling the bottom of the station with TNT, setting the trap, and disappearing.
"THUNDER!"
The canary calls.
"You telling this story or am I, Jim?"
"jesus.."
Martyn rolled his eyes. Jimmy moved behind him slightly, moving to absently preen his wings.
"Grian said it looks like rain,"
He'd teased them, expecting them to walk in and blow the station. That stupid fucking station was their house, home, headquarters.
"In doing so, he floods my brain."
Martyn remembered the sheer panic by what he'd meant by that. Looks like rain? Sure, maybe he was being innocent. Maybe he was talking about the quests or Watchers... Martyn didn't think of the station until it was too late.
(why did he tell us? he remembers thinking)
"Woke up to a DESTROYED Police station."
Martyn remembered walking over to see the wood structure, burned down. Grian, staring. Salem next to him, shaking.
"SALEM HOW-"
"i doNT KNOW!"
Truthfully, Martyn felt like crying in that moment. Grian sighed. "I'll clean it up and fix it, don't worry."
