The moon is high; a glowing silver orb illuminating every patch of dark sky it touches. Stars twinkle, a strand of magic twisting and twirling against the background of twilight time.
It flows over the area, plains of grass and entire forests. Canyons and lakes, deserts and building that towered over the fields of flowers and wheat.
It's translucent, barely, allowing you to peer through the simple strand to view the land with a brilliant purple film above. Particles drift from every edge of the strand, following the sharp winds to traverse the area.
It's searching, looking for something. It loops around a towering mountain of perfectly brilliant pink trees that grew tall above the grass of the mountain.
The magic weaves through the tall buildings of cities, forests and neighborhoods, over trains and rivers until it finds it's target- a grouping of buildings, seated on the river bank and into the cliff face. The magic seemingly stares, grinning down as it slips under a window into a bedroom holding a small avian.
The world flickers out, leaving darkness that seemed to smirk.
Grian's wings flared as he appeared in the void, floating above the darkness that surrounded him on all sides, grinning with teeth that don't seemingly exist.
There's a hum in the air that grows and fades, pulsing like magic. Every few seconds, the world flickers into a purple filter. Grian searches the void, trying to find the source.
He feels the ghost of a hand on his shoulder. Grian yelped, spinning around to hear laughter. The void pulsed quicker, laughing quietly at him.
Something brushes his wings. Grian spins again, finding a large face grinning down at him. Their eye pulsed with magic, bright purple against dark void.
"Little Empire, where have you hidden all your little friends?"
Grian backs up, hitting the feathery wing of another Watcher. He turns to look at them, seeing three eyes that stared at him with a grin.
"Tell us, so we say~"
He shook his head, searching for the words. How were they here? How- how did they find him? Grian was careful, cautious. No one knew where this server was, floating in oblivion. They shouldn't.
"Little Empire, where have you hidden all your friends?"
1 was talking, tone flater and aggressive. Grian blinked, bolting towards the one side where neither had appeared, only to run straight into the open hands of 2. He closed his wings around the human, letting the bright purple fade into the black of the void.
Back where he was.
"Tell us, so we say!"
Grian hissed a no, calling on the lingering bit of magic that pooled in the pit of his stomach. The Watchers found his attempt amusing, daring to draw on his own magic. It wasn't really his magic, though. It never was.
"All the magic that you've stolen,"
"I didn-"
Grian hisses, his own magic trying to pulse against the draw of 1 and 2. 2's draw increases as they growl words, looking down at the little human in their grips.
