"It's me or the Watchers."
Pearl stood infront of Grian, staring her brother down as he stood near the omni-present gods. They stand over him, looming symbols of immense power.
"Tell me, which of us is more your kind?"
"Pearl-"
She takes an aggressive step forward, wings flaring.
"Seems like you can't decide.."
She's fading from his vision, he can tell they're pulling him away- no, no, no-
"If it's not me, I'm probably gonna run away, yeah."
A dark force seized his mind.
"IT'S ME BOY, I'M THE WATCHER.. SPEAKING TO YOU INSIDE YOUR BRAIN"
Grian spun around, looking at the large figures that smiled at him. He tried bolting, only to be followed. It was a dramatic scene, running through the darkness.
"LISTEN TO ME BOY.. LEAVE THE GIRL.."
Their magic grabbed for Grian, slamming him into the ground.
"WE DON'T NEED HER!"
He fought will all his strength, trying to break free of the magic.
"COME WITH ME AND PLAY MY GAMESS!!"
(Images of deserts, castles and more flash in his mind)
"STOP- GO AWAY- I WANT PEARL-"
"WE CAN BE COwBOYS... in iN SPACE!!"
Tears are streaming down Grian's face as he tries to bolt again, not making it far before the magic trips him.
"YOU NEED ME BOY, YOUR FREE WILL IS AN ILLUSIoNNN-"
Pearl crashed into the nightmare, dispelling it's mind-twisting magic.
"ohmygods, pearl.."
"jesus christ grian, that was a loud nightmare."
Pearl helped him up, chuckling as they started to walk towards the empire.
".. i thought the watchers were talking to me.. it was weird.."
"What'd they tell ya?"
"'free will is an illusion', for some reason. Oh, yeah, and something about games.."
Oh, if only they knew,
The hurricane about to hit and ravage their lives.
But for now, it's peaceful.
(The words said never truly leave Grian's brain, for some reason..)
