amaris hated school. like more than anything. which is why, not even a week into school, shes already blowing off homework.
"how've you been buddy? you having fun?" ravi asks barney as he crouches down and pets him.
"im starting to think you only hangout with me for barney."
"uh oh your owners caught me. what do i do?" ravi speaks to the dog but the playful smile on his face tells amaris that the words were meant for her.
"you could buy me ice cream to make up for it."
"buying a pretty girl ice cream, how could i say no?" ravi asks standing up.
"mmm your just buttering me up because i found out your using me for my dog."
"no definitely not. anyway whats your favorite flavor?"
"mint cookies and cream. and dont think i didnt notice how you changed the topic."
"i have no idea what your talking about, moon."
"oh reall-"
"look we're here." ravi cuts the girl off and pulling her to the walk up counter.
"hi, can i get a large carmel shake and..." ravi trails off looking down at amaris,
"a small mint oreo artic swirl."
"will that be all?" the teen behind the counter asks.
"mhm." ravi hums pulling out his wallet
"$10.88. does your mom know your with him mari?" the teen asks as ravi places 11 bucks on the counter.
"does your mom know your fucking her boyfriend, tracy?" amaris asks tiliting her head with a bitchy smile plastered on her face.
"mari! have a good day." ravi says picking up their stuff and pulling amaris away from the counter.
"mari, what was that?"
"hey you should be glad that i blow up like pip did at the store."
"oh my God, mari."
"why do you keep calling me mari?"
ravi smirks, "i thought you didnt like you nickname, moon."
"i dont, sun." amaris says before grabbing her artic swirl from him and sitting on a table. ravi shakes his hear and sits next to her.
they sit silently for a few minutes before amaris phone dings. she pulls it out of her back pocket and looks down to see it was pip texting her.

"urgh, im really sorry ravi, pip needs me."
"its fine. ill walk you home?"
amaris nods, "thank you."

10 minutes later and amaris was back in her house unclipping barneys leash before walking upstairs.
"pip whats up?"
"okay so you know how naomis on my persons of intrest list right?"
"mhm, dont really think its her though."
"mr wards on there now too."
"why?" amaris sits on on her bed tucking her legs under her.
"okay so i talked to emma hutton again and she mention that andie didnt like mr ward and called him an asshole among other things, and then i got to thinking, there is a possiblity that he could be the secret older guy and she could 'ruin' him because hes a teacher and could serve jail time."
"oh." was all amaris said. she couldve said so much more but that was all her brain let her get out. i mean how was she supposed to tell pip that her best friends dad had made a pass at her 2 years ago, or that he pratically groped her last year? pip knew the man as a second, well third father.
"do you think he could be the secret older guy a-and couldve killed her?"
"i- um i dont know pip but arent you the one who always says we cant rule anyone out yet."
"yea youre right."
"i know i am. now im going to go take a shower you find something to do that calms you down."
as soon as amaris closes the bathroom door behind her she really lets her mind reel. there was no doubt in her mind that elliot ward could be the secret older guy but could he have murdered andie? amaris didnt think he couldve but then againit doesnt matter about thinking it matters about facts. and facts were mr ward was a perv and andie had called him some not nice words.
