disclaimers: I don't own ggbb and my little brother is SUCH a mamas boy
"I hate people." amaris groans as she flipped through her notifications again. she was looking for the notification saying that Ravi had texted her but instead found a plethora of comments from the announcement she had posted on her social media accounts. the announcement was the same one pip had posted, it explained how jamie Reynolds was missing and kindly asked that if anyone had information about it they should contact her and it had an online version of jamies missing person poster attached to it aswell.
the problem wasn't the notifications, the problem was the trolls people were doing. one said: I kidnapped jamie reynolds. another had asked, who will look for you when you're the one gone?
finally her eyes zeroed in on the notification of ravis text and she hastily clicked on it and read the message, before rereading their previous conversation and smiling about how off topic they got. just as she was typing up her response the cafe bell dinged and caras voice accompanied it.
"hey," she greets as she sits down at amaris and pips table, "ravi said you were in here. just saw him as i finished up chalk road. oh and he said to tell you that Pepsi is the better soda, which if we're talking Pepsi vs coke than he right."
"that fucker he can't other people involved in our debate just so it looks like he's right." amaris grumbles as she deletes her previous message draft and sends him another one basically saying the same thing she just said out loud.
"you're out of posters?" pip asks ignoring her sister.
"yeah. but that’s not why i need to talk to you." Cara lowers her voice.
"what’s up?" pip whispers following caras energy.
"so, as i was putting up the posters, looking at jamie’s face, reading what he was wearing, i . . . i dunno." Cara leans forward. "i know i was really drunk and don’t remember much of the night, but i keep getting this feeling that . . . well, i think i saw jamie there that night."
"what are you talking about?" pip asks her voice still a whisper, "at the calamity party?"
Cara nods and leans even farther forward, "i mean, i don’t have a clear memory of it. it’s more like a déjà vu thing. but picturing him in that outfit, i swear he walked by me at the party. i was drunk, so maybe i didn’t think anything of it at the time, or maybe i didn’t realize but – hey, don’t look at me like that! i’m sure that maybe i maybe saw him there."
"okay, so let me get this straight," amaris mumbles setting her phone on the table, "you're sure that maybe you maybe saw him. and because you repeated maybe twice really your not sure of anything, most likely due to the fact that you were drunk off your ass."
"ok so i’m obviously not sure. but I think he was." Cara leans back and mari rolls her eyes.
"well, ok, let’s say you did see jamie there. what the hell would jamie be doing at a party full of eighteen-year olds? he’s twenty-four and probably the only people he knows our age are us, connor’s friends." pip says logically
"dunno." cara shrugs
"was he speaking to anyone?" amaris questions.
"i don’t know, i think i only remember him walking past me at some point." Cara answers rubbing her temple
"but if he was there . . ." pip trails off the far away look suggesting she got lost in her thoughts.
"it’s really strange," cara finishes.
"really strange." pip agrees.
cara pauses to sip pips coffe and steal a bite of the breakfast sandwich that ravi had practically ordered her to buy when she said she was at the cafe, "so, what do we do about it?"
