disclaimers: i don't own ggbb current mood: pretty isn't pretty - Olivia Rodrigo
amaris tried to ignore his voice but it seemed like it haunted her. it followed her everywhere, her dates with ravi, her classes at school, her dinners with her family, her hang outs with friends, and now her bedroom. though this time it wasn't her mind producing the voice it was pips laptop.
pip sat infront of it listening to the same sentence from elliot ward over and over again. amaris knew pip, and she knew pip needed to comb through her interview with elliot ward so she could put everything behind her but her bedroom was supposed to her safe place- one of them atleast- a place where she was safe from the whispers, the apologies, the stares, his voice but here elliot ward was infiltrating her most used safe space, forcing her to remember everything he did as she layed on her bed staring at the ceiling. and as the flashes of memories crept through her mind she hadn't noticed the interview continuing until ravis voice broke through the dark room.
"what are you doing?" his voice chased the memories away and brought a smile to her face, as she lazily lifted her head in his direction. she could vaguely make out his outline but still it made her heart swarm with emotions she couldn't place.
"you scared me, ravi." pips voice was slightly annoyed and she darted forward to pause the audio, he didnt need to hear elliots voice ever again, neither did amaris but pip hadn't known she was even in the room, that's why she was listening to it, if she'd known amaris was there pip would've put in her earphones.
"you're sitting here in the dark listening to that, but i'm the scary one?" ravi asks flicking the light on, his eyes immeiditly traveling to amaris who still layed on her back in the starfish position.
pip followed his eyes and sighed when she spotted her sister, pip desperately wanted to protect amaris however she could and making her listen to elliots voice was not the way to do that, "how did you get in anyway?" she asks changing the subject.
"your parents and josh were on their way out, with a very impressive
looking lemon tart." ravi says with a smile
"oh yes, they're on neighbourly welcome duties. a young couple have just moved into the chens' house down the street. mom did the
deal. the greens . . . or maybe the browns, can't remember." pip says wheeling away from her desk.
"maris." ravi calls to his girlfriend who lifts her head some, "come get your flowers."
amaris's lips pull into a large grin as she stands up practically skipping to ravi, "thank you, sun." she says taking them from him and moving to her desk.
"you spoil her with those damn flowers, I don't know how your not broke." pip says with an airy laugh as amaris dumps the wilted carnations from her vase and clips the ends off her new ones before putting them in the vase and adjusting it on her desk her smile not dropping.
ravi shrugs, "she likes them, its worth it." he moves to sit on the end on pips bed before looking at amaris, "dinners seven thirty by the way." he mumbles stumbling over his words making amaris cock her head. he was nervouse. why was he nervous? they'd gone on several dates before the only difference was today was Valentine's day. valentines day, sals birthday.
"meaning you're almost two hours early," Pip teases.
"y-yeah." he stutters his cheeks painted light pink.
"leave him alone, pipsqueak, its cute." amaris says moving to stand in between ravis legs. she smiles down at him his hands moving to rest on her waist, her hand sliding from his shoulder to where his jaw and neck met before she leans down and connects their lips.
pip fake gags, "ugh ew quite that." she grabs a pen throwing it blindly at them as she covered her eyes with her hand. amaris rolls her eyes and pulls away from ravi, placing one last peck on his lips before moving to sit next to him, ravi was stuck in his place, still in a haze from her kiss.
shaking his head he turns to look at pip while intertwining amaris's hand with his, "how far have you got?"
"it's done." pip says watching amaris play with ravis fingers
"you've finished already?" ravi asks, glancing at his girlfriend- he really loved calling her that.
"it's pip of course she already finished." amaris mumbles tracing his knuckles lightly with her finger.
"if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself," pip says with a shrug
"so, what's next?" ravi asks, tugging amaris closer to him.
"i export the episode files, upload them to soundcloud on schedule,
once a week, and then copy the RSS feed to podcast directories like itunes and stitcher. but I'm not quite finished, i need to record the intro, over this theme song i found on audio jungle. but to record an intro, you need a title."
"ah, still title-less are we, ladies?" ravi asks with a smile.
"we are, i've narrowed it down to three options."
"hit me," he says half paying attention because amaris had changed her position to lay her head on his shoulder.
"no, you'll be mean about them." pip mumbles
"no, I won't," ravi says defensively.
"yes you will." amaris moves her head to look up at him, her chin resting on his shoulder.
"shh, maris. pip just tell me."
"ok option a is: an examination into
a miscarriage of justice. wha- ravi, I can see you laughing." pip says with a frown.
"that was a yawn, i swear." ravi stops himself from laughing.
"well, you won't like option B either because that's a study into a
closed case: the andie bell - ravi, stop! not you too mari!" pip frowns at her sister, amaris wasn't even because of the name she just couldn't not join in as she felt the vibrations from Ravi s laughter. him being happy was the most important thing to her, so hearing his laugh instantly brought a wide smile to her lips that quickly turned into laughter.
"wha- i'm sorry, i can't help it," he was laughing so hard his eyes began to line with tears.
"it's just... of all your many qualities, pip, there's one thing you lack -" amaris starts, saving her boyfriend from pip.
"lack?" pip turns to face her sister, "i lack something?"
pip tone makes amaris's eyes widen and she cowers behind ravi mumbling, "save me, please."
"it's pizazz. you are almost entirely pizazzless, pip." ravi says, amused with both his girlfriend and pip.
"i am not pizazzless."
"you need to draw people in, intrigue them. have a word like 'kill' or
'dead' in there." ravi ignores her statement as he tugs on amaris's arm, so she stops hiding.
"but that's sensationalism."
"and that's exactly what you want, for people to actually listen," ravi says smiling when amaris lays on her back and rests her head on his lap.
"but all of my options are accurate and -"
"boring?" ravi asks with a smirk.
"quit being mean ravi." amaris mumbles. her eyes were closed as she basked in the calmness and warmth of ravis presence.
ravi doesnt respond to amaris, instead he takes the hair tye out of her hair and slips his hand into it. his touch calmed her and almost magically killed any whispers or memories of elliot in her mind, "you need something that rhymes, or alliteration. something with..."
"pizzazz." amaris finishes, pitching her voice down to imitate her boyfriend, while doing jazz hands with a tiny smile.
"fime he can think of one then." pip says rather annoyed.
"crime time," he suggest before changing his mind noticing amaris small shake of head, "no. oh fairview . . . maybe unfair view."
"ew, no," pip says and amaris face scrunches as she nods in agreement.
"you're right." ravi stood, gently rmoving amaris's head from his lap before doing so, though amaris still frowns sittimg up as he begins to pace, "your unique selling point is, really, you guys. seventeen-year-old twins who solved a case the police had long considered closed. and what are you guys?"
"lacking, clearly," pip says at the same time amaris says
"tired and about to murder my boyfriend"-- matching smiles fall onto ravi and amaris's faces, he loved hearing her call him that and she loved saying it- "for disturbing me when i was comfortable."
"students, girls-"
"this is probably a bad time to tell you I'm actually a toaster." amaris cuts ravi off and he shakes his head before continuing.
"oh, how about project
murder and me?"
"nah."
"ok...." he thinks as he chews on his lip a habit he picked up from amaris."so, something murder, or kill or dead. and you are pip and mari, students and girls who are good at . . . oh shit, i’ve got it!’
"what?"
"i've literally got it."
"what is it?"
"a good girls' guide to murder."
"noooo. that’s bad, way too try- hard."
"what are you talking about? its perfect. isn't it maris?" ravj asks and amaris nods though she had no idea what she was agreeing to, she was way to distracted by ravi looking way to good.
"good girls? we turn eighteen in two weeks; i won’t contribute to our own infantilization."
"a good girls' guide to murder," ravi says pulling amaris, who was shamelessly staring, to her feet and spinning her, eliciting giggles from her, "it's perfect, pip." he says his arms wrapping around amaris's pulling her into him.
"no." pip says.
"yes." ravi says his arms turning amaris to face pip.
"please pip." amaris pleads with a smile.
"fine." pip grumbles and amaris smiles widely.a/n
