amaris stood beside pip the next day waiting for ravi, who should be turning the corner any second. amaris and pip were silent and amaris took comfort in the only sounds being the birds chirping their morning songs. the both of them hardly got any sleep the night before, pip was up worrying and analyzing everything about jamies disappearance whereas amaris couldnt sleep because whenever she tried she was plagued with the worst memories she had. the memories she sometimes wished her mind would block out, the memories of the threats, the memories of Elliot ward, the memories of her dad saying Barney was dead, the memories of finding pip drugged, the memories of pip being taken away in an ambulance, the memories of pip unconscious in the hospital. it's seemed like everyone amaris closed her eyes the memories would flash in her mind in a loop, repeating themselves until amaris couldnt think of anything else.
Ravi rounded the corner and his pace sped up when he spotted his girlfriend, when he made it to her he wrapped her into a hug and amaris closed her eyes melting into his embrace feeling the memories wash away and disappear for a second.
"you look pale, sarge, did you sleep last night?" Ravi asks his girlfriend's sister while his arms stayed wrapped tightly around his girl. he didn't need to ask amaris that question because he knew that she hadnt, he knew the second he saw her, he could always tell.
"some." pip shrugged, "but every hour that passes makes it statistically less likely jamie will ever be found. yhe first seventy-two hours are crucial-"
"pip, you have to take care of yourself too," Ravi said gently, his voice soft and caring, to him pip was his little sister and he wanted to protect her, keep her safe, "you can't think straight without sleep and you’re no good to namie like that. now, have you had breakfast?"
"coffee." pip says waving him off
"food?" Ravi presses
"no." pip admits sheepishly, "but mari hasn't had anything so you need to worry about her."
"I know she hasn't, pip," Ravi mumbles pulling out two cocoa puff cereal bars from his pocket and handing one to pip, "eat that please, sarge. now." he says as he looks down at his girlfriend who seemed to have dozed off in his embrace. he moved himself and mari a couple feet from where pip was so that he could talk to her more privatly.
"I'm not hungry, ravi." amaris mumbles, having woke up from him moving them.
"yea well you have to eat, love. and you're supposed to call me when you can't sleep." Ravi unwraps the cereal bar and holds it up to amaris' mouth so she would take a bite.
"I didn't want to wake you." amaris says before taking a bite.
"mari, we've talked about this. I don't care if you wake me up, I would rather-"
"stay awake talking to me then worrying about me. I know, sun, i just-I don't want to be a burden." amaris admits staring down at her feet.
"you," his hands find the side of her face and lift her head so she looks at him, "are not a burden. you said something like that yesterday and I don't think I got around to correcting me but listen to me when I say this amaris. you. are. not. a. burden."
"i-" love you, Ravi- no stop it. "okay, I'll call you when I can't sleep."
"thank you, maris." I love you- oh my God get a grip this is not how you are going to tell her. not on a random sidewalk you dumbass. "c'mon." Ravi mumbles once she had finished her cereal bar, he pulled her back over to where pip stood. "so what's the plan?"
"connor will be here soon," pip answers as she ravi takes her and amaris' crumpled wrappers and stuffing them in his pocket. "and cara. you three will head out with the missing posters, and me and mari going to the fairview mail office. hopefully someone is in."
"how many posters did you print?" he asks, his fingers drawing circles on amaris' hip.
"two hundred and fifty." amaris answers leaning into her boyfriends touch, "felt like it took a million years oh and dad's gonna kill me when he finds out i used all his ink."
"i could have helped you guys with those. you don’t have to do everything by yourselves, remember. we’re a crime fighting trio." Ravi says sighing.
"we know, and we trust you with everything, except making the poster. remember that email you almost sent to a law firm with the line 'I appreciate that you are very busty' instead of busy?" pip says with a teasing smirk
Ravi grins, "well, that’s what my girlfriend's little sister is for."
"it was only two minute ravi, two minutes. and for proofreading?" pip asks with a roll of her eyes.
"yep, just that." Ravi nods and amaris laughs. ravi always entranced from her laugh. it was like a sweet melody gracing his ears and if he was a artist he would make a symphony comprised of just her laughs and giggles because those were possibly the best sound in the entire universe. he loved the way the pitch of the laugh would change with her levels of happiness and he loved their was a laugh that only he would he hear because of her only being on that certain level of happiness with him.
ravis smile widens as her laugh turns to giggles while she apologizes for her outburst of laughter, "sorry, sorry, it's the sleep deprivation, I promise. i don't even know why I'm laughing, it wasn't that funny." she says as her giggles dies down. "what? why are you staring at me, freak?"
"woah, love, no need for that I was just gonna say you look really pretty." ravis smile never once left his lips as he talked.
"oh really? I look pretty when I'm sleep deprived?" amaris asks quirking a brow.
"you look all the time." ravi mumbles tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear.
"right. so if I was a murderer you'd still think I was pretty?" her head tilts slightly as a smile this on her lips.
"fuck yea. I'd be the one sending you mass amount of love letters to your cell." ravi nods
"oh? you really like me that much, meine liebe." amaris' head was still tilted and Ravi mentally added her head tilts to the list of thing he loves about her, in all honesty if that list was written down it's probably be pages and pages long.
"I do, unfortunately." Ravi mumbles before entrapping her perfect lips in a kiss.
"ew! you guys disgust me!" pip exclaims with a smile because in truth she couldnt actually be disgusted by them because amaris was so completely happy and pip was sure she hadnt ever been like that before.
