the next didnt come till the next morning, victor had went out, three hours prior, to look for barney. he had suggested that pip and amaris stay home and they both gladly complied.
it wouldnt do any good to walk around screaming for barney until their throats hurt because barney wasnt lost, he was taken.
amaris was changing her band aids and applying more ointment when her phone dinged. she lunges for it and unlocks her phone, imeiditely going to the text.
Take your computer and any USBs or hard drives that your project is
saved on. Bring them to the tennis club car park with you and walk 100
paces into the trees on the right side. Do not tell anyone and come alone.
If you follow these instructions, you will get your dog back.
"pip?" she calls out wearily.
"yea i got it too." pip says back as amaris walks into their room, pip was already gathering her laptop and usbs. amaris grabs her laptop unplugging it and sticking it in pips bag. sticking her her phone into her back pocket she grabs her jacket and slips it on before grabbing her shoes and hopping to put them on as she walked down the stairs, pip already at the base of them

amaris watched with a heavy heart as pip destoyed their laptops and usbs. this was it, there was no more proving  sals innocence. but it meant barney cam back and thats what amaris cared about, she knew ravi, she knew that he would understand but the latest text said that they werent supposed to tell anyone, which meant ravi would hate them. he would hate her. her sun would hate her.
her breaths were heavy and ragged, her eyes glossy, with tears that never fell. they wouldnt, not until she was alone.
amaris never cried infront of anyone, once she had cried in 4th grade and the the entire class laughed at her, she came home and cried in victors arms and then swore to never cry infront of anyone ever again.

"where did you go?" victor asks as amaris and pip walk inside. they had waited for while in the park before ultimately deciding to go home.
"we couldn’t concentrate here, so w went to the cafe." pip answets
"i see, sometimes a change of scenery is good for concentration." victor kind and warm smile made amaris want to break down right there.
"but, dad....." pip trailed off and amaris knew it was because she didnt want to lie to their dad.
"someone took our laptops, we went to the bathroom and when we came back, they were gone. im sorry, i know we shouldnt have left them. sorry." amaris mumbles the last two sentances.
"don’t be silly, things are not important. they are replaceable. i only care if you two are ok."
"we're okay. any sign this morning?"
amaris didnt hear victors answer to pip beacuse she had already walked away.
amaris crawled into her bed and curled into a ball, she had her headphones in and she was listening to her coldplay/cigarettes after sex playlist.

victor came in an hour to tell the girls what he had found out. she sat on her bed while pip sat in the desk chair.
"listen, pip, mari, someone just found barney." the tone victor held made fear and dread settle in amaris.
"wh-why don’t you look happy?" amaris already knew the answer to pips question but she didnt want to believe it.
"no. no. no. no." amaris whispers shaking her head.
"he must have fallen in somehow. they found him in the river-" amaris could see her fathers lips still moving but she couldnt make out the words. she found herself walking to the bathroom and locking herself in, and leaning against the door as she cried.
she stayed ther for the rest of the day. not coming out when leanne, victor, josh, or cara begged her to, --pip didnt bother her, she knew her sister and she knew amaris would come out when she was ready- she didnt come out when they burried barney and she didnt even come out when she heard ravis voice.
he was talking to pip, one of the first things he said was, "wheres mari?"
and pip replied with, "she in the bathroom processing everything. dont bother her, she wont come out." what pip didnt know is that amaris qouldve came out if ravi asked her too.
amaris wasnt paying attention to pip and ravis raised voices, in fact she hadnt even heard ravis angry footsteps walking to the door.
"why, amaris, you guys said you believed hes innocent. so why?" her full name hit her like a stack of bricks and she could hear the anger and saddness in his voice. "i thought you were differant, moon. and i thought-" ravis voice  shakes, "i thought you actually cared." amaris closes her eyes as she fights back sobs, she did care. she cared so much. not just about proving sals innocence but about him, about her ravi. "God how wrong was i, huh?" he laughs bitterly. "youre not gonna say anything are you?" he asks recieving no answer but the silence answerd the question. ravi lets out a shakey breath, his hand rests gently against the door, "goodbye, amaris."
when amaris heard the door alam downstairs, she let more tears fall.

maybe the sun was callapsing.
and maybe the moon had caused it.
but maybe, just maybe, the sun wouldnt give up that easily.

also i feel mari on the whole not crying infront of people thing, [which is important;)] because yesterday i started crying infront of my mom and she just laughed.
