silence had fallen over them as they stepped into the house and it wasnt the comfortable silence that amaris loved more than life its self, no it was the heavy silence that fell on everyone who was pressent. the silence that made amaris feel like the atmosphere had disapeared and all the oxygen that everyone so despretly needed was gone, it was the type of silence that made amaris's mind reel.
what if they did get caught? what would happen to them if they got caught? how much worse would it be for ravi? was this really a good idea? why had she agrred with this? did-
amaris felt ravi's hand grip hers. she looks up at him confused until a thump is heard from above them, she tenses and squeezes ravis glove clad hand with her own gloved hand. the thumps turned into jingling and then a black cat appeared at the top of the stairs.
"holy crap," ravi breaths out his shoulders dropping along with his grip on amaris's hand.
amaris frowns slightly but shakes it off as the cat comes downstairs, pip greets him first before he goes to amaris who crouches down and smiles, picking it up.
"aww." she coos as the cat curls into her and purs.
ravi, who was eying the cat wearily, shakes his head when amaris holds the cat out torwards him and says,"i dont like cats."
amaris shrugs and brings the cat back to her chest, holding it with one hand and holding her other hand out towards ravi, "can you...." she trails off as ravi takes the glove off her hand and holds it for her as she pets the cat.
"come on." pip says heading for the stairs. amaris frowns and sets the cat down before following her sister.
ravi begins to follow aswell but stops abruptly when the cat darted inbetween his legs, "moon....." ravi trails off nervously and amaris turns around and shakes her head with a small smile, she picks up the cat again and places him at the bottom of the stairs before mumbling, "stay." and heading back to ravi, who was waiting for her.
"i totally wasnt scared." he mumbles
"its fine, sun. if i see a spider have a worse reaction." amaris says taking her glove back and slipping it on.
when they made it to andies room amaris stopped, the room was still and completely untouched all of andies stuff still in it as if it was waiting for her to come home. amaris felt wrong stepping through the thresh hold. but they needed that phone so she did, albeit a few minutes after the other two but she still did and as she did she glanced at ravi, realizing there was a room like this at his house. a room untouched, eerily still, a room to which the door is forever closed.
"ready?" ravi wispers to the two girls who nod. he opens the closet door and  the three stare at the full closet. pip struggles to grab her phone and turn on the flashlight, amaris watched as ravi and pip searched for the faulty floorboard. normally amaris would help but she was far too distracted by the cat that had joinded them in the room so instead she sat crisscross on the floor as the cat curled in her lap.
"its not here." amaris heard ravi says and her heart sank.
fuck. without the burner phone there was no way to get the police reopen the investigation and ontop of that the text and the note flashed through her mind. the text was threatening, the text could mean that Unknown planned to do what they did to andie again only this time to amaris and pip. Fuck!
"i really thought itd be here." ravi says defeatedly.
pip and amaris had thought it would too. they had hoped it would. they hoped it would cause the police to reopen the investigation and find Unknown before they added two more teenage girls to their murdered list. amaris felt like her lungs collapsed and pips throat closed like it would before she cried.
amaris bit her cheek and shooed the cat away as pip and ravi inched out of the closet. ravi exited first and his eyes immediately fell to amris who still sat on the ground.
amaris outstretched her hand and wiggled her fingers, hoping he'd get the hint and help her up. he did.
"where could the burner phone be then?" ravi asks pip as he wraps his hand around amaris's and pulls her up.
"maybe andie had it on her when she died, and now it’s buried with her or otherwise destroyed by the killer." pip spoke her voice wavering ever so slightly.
"or," amaris begins as she brushes the cat hair off of ravis hoodie (that she decided she would not be giving back unless he asked for it) "someone knew where it was hidden and they took it after her disappearance, knowing that it would lead the police to them if it was found."
"or that, but that doesnt help us now." pip agrees following ravi over to andies desk.
amaris chews her lip as she glances over the room trying to find anything that could help their investigation.
"hey." pip says holding up a  planner for ravi to see, amaris walks over amd stands inbetween ravi and pip to see the planner. "ook at these weird initials. what do you think they mean?"
"do you remember that thing howie bowers said to us? That he’d told andie to use codes instead of names." ravi sayd and amaris nods understanding what he was getting at.
"those might be her codes." amaris finishes ravis sentance.
"we should document these." pip says and amaris helps her tug off one of the rubber gloves before watching as pip took pictures of the planner pages.
"ok," pip says pocketing her phone and pulling her glove back on, "we-"
pip was cut off by the front door slamming. ravis head snaps toward the sound as his pupils widen in fear, amaris's felt like her windpipe had been crushed.
"get back in." pip whispers pointing at the closet. she opened the door and climbed inside first moving to the other side to make room for her sister and ravi, amaris followed shortly after. but ravi was stuck in place. why wouldnt he move?
amaris reaches forward and grabs the front of his shirt pulling him into the closet and against her. ravi seemed to snap out of the trance at her touch and he closes the closet door, stepping forward and closer to amaris so that the door would close fully.
sharp heels echoed through the house, "hello monty." becca bells voice breaks the silence.
amaris could feel ravi shaking and breathing heavier, silently she moves her hand to grasp his as becca walked up the stairs.
"ah, that’s where I left them." becca was at the top of the stairs and amaris wished she could turn back time, tell pip how fucking stupid the whole plan with, or never call ravi so it was just her and pip in the house about to be caught. amaris closes her eyes tightly as beccas footsteps got closer little did she know ravi was having the same reaction.
"monty, have you been in here?" Becca’s voice was outside andies room, "you know you’re not supposed to go in this room." becca was inside the room now.
amaris leans her forhead against ravis chest silently cursing herself for going through with pips plan. cursing herself for getting ravi involved. cursing herself because if they got caught ravi would be in so much more trouble than amaris and pip would be. ravis hand, the one that wasnt intertwined with amaris's, moves to rest on the back of her head bringing her closer as his breath calms but his heart races faster, most likely due to the lack of space between him and amaris.
finally the sound of andies door closing ripples through the air and beccas voice becomes muffled, "bye, monty."
ravis eyes slowly open and he holds amari to his chest while they both let out a breath of relief as the front door slams again.
pip watches the two witch a raised brow.
