New Day

(Catnap's POV)

I woke up after an extra hour of sleeping, it was now 10 AM, and I was ready to wake up this time.

I sat up and looked at Dogday who appeared to be out like a light, peacefully sleeping as he slowly and gently tossed and turned.

I gently shook Dogday as he looked at me and groaned just as I did when he came to wake me up.

"Ugh... Already...? I was so comfortable... 5 more minutes..." Dogday whined.

"Hmph. Hypocrite...~" I said playfully as I leaned over Dogday and slightly pinched him on the leg, making him yelp.

"O- Ow...! Okay fine, I'll get up... That hurt, Catnap..." Dogday whined as I started to feel a little bit bad.

"Alright, I'm sorry... I just wanted you to get up, that's all." I said as I gently gave Dogday a hug as an apology.

He hugged me back as he wiped a bit of a tear from his eye, he was never the type to take pain too lightly.

"I'm gonna go downstairs, I'll make you some tea." I said, walking out of my bedroom.

"Wait, what about you? What will you have?" Dogday asked.

"Maybe some milk, I'm not feeling tea today." I said as I walked downstairs, but what I saw sent a shiver down my spine...

(Dogday's POV)

Catnap suddenly froze in place as I walked beside him to see what he was so scared of, nothing seemed out of the ordinary until I asked Catnap what was wrong.

"Catnap... What is it? What's wrong?" I asked quietly.

He pointed to the couch, and I saw what he was scared of now, and my breath also hitched as I froze in place.

Neko was gone, but he wasn't meant to wake up until another hour or so, and the front door was slightly open, so he was wandering around outside somewhere.

"...Do we go after him? Or..." I said after a long pause.

"Let's just... Get breakfast done first..." Catnap said as he slowly walked towards the kitchen counter.

Soon after Catnap made them breakfast

"How did you know I liked bacon?" I asked Catnap as I put my plate into his sink.

"I see you eating it every day, so I figured I'd treat you." Catnap said as he also put his plate in the sink.

"Alright, I'm gonna go head outside, you wanna come with me?" I asked as Catnap quickly nodded and followed me outside.

We saw all of our friends outside, but they seemed to be looking at something, like they were all tensed up.

I was the first one to get to them, and I was quickly followed by Catnap as we were both stopped by Bobby Bearhug, Bubba Bubbaphant, and almost everyone else.

"Catnap! Dogday! Don't go any closer, there's something in that tree!" Bobby claimed.

"Yeah! It's got red eyes, a nasty scar, and it looks like a cat!" Bubba said, pointing at the tree, to which both Catnap and I also saw the eyes in the tree.

Although the eyes seemed fixated on us two, and I could almost immediately tell that it was Neko up there, although the shadows were hiding him.

"Don't worry, we know who that is, we'll deal with it." I said to everyone, and Catnap also assured them that we would be fine.

We both walked over to the tree, and I was about to call out Neko's name, but he suddenly just dropped from the tree in front of us.

"Ugh, hey guys... Those things won't leave me alone..." Neko stated as he pointed to our friends.

"What? But those are our friends..." I said, making Neko sigh.

"Look, I'm gonna go hide away somewhere else, if you could, just explain to them who I am, and tell them to quit following me!" Neko asked as he turned and ran off somewhere else.

Me and Catnap shrugged it off and walked over to everyone else, getting ready to explain to them of who Neko was.

A couple minutes later

"Oooooh... So he's basically one of us? Except, he looks different?" Most of them asked, some of the others asked other questions that weren't that important.

After we confirmed everyone else's questions, they seemed to understand, and agreed to leave Neko alone.

"Alright, now that that's settled... Why don't we play tag? It's a nice day out!" I suggested, and everyone started getting excited, running around, and as always, I was the first tagger.

Although, I wonder where Neko ran off to...
