(Dogday's POV)
After we had all gotten done playing games outside, everyone said goodbye to each other as they all went inside, Catnap gave me a few scritches under my neck before walking home.
I had gotten home last, I closed my front door and locked it as I saw... Neko, but he looked fine? His arm was completely healed already, the stitches I game him seemed to no longer be there, and he seemed completely normal.
Although he was holding a can of... Paint...? And he seemed to be eating from it.
...Wait a second...
"Neko, what are you doing?!" I asked frantically as Neko jumped slightly and dropped the can, putting his hands up.
"Nothing! I was hungry...! I just wanted something to eat!" Neko exclaimed as he cowered behind the couch, he seemed to be a lot more fragile than how he was a couple hours ago...
"H- Hungry?! Neko, you can't eat paint! It's poisonous!" I explained in fear as I jumped over the couch to check up on Neko.
But when I checked his stomach, there was nothing there but a... Gaping hole...? How was this even possible...?
"Yeah... I guess you figured it out huh...?" Neko asked slowly as I did nothing but look up at him.
"That's why I wear my jacket, people used to call me a freak because I somehow continued living after I had that happen to me." Neko explained as he jumped over the couch again, sitting down.
"What... What happened?" I asked as Neko sighed before speaking again.
"A giant metal beam went straight through me after I fell from a building, it didn't hurt, but it wasn't painless." Neko said as he covered his face with his beanie.
"It's why I'm so prone to injuries so easily, something such as a pinch on the arm nowadays would make me tear up at least, I hate to admit it, but I'm a real coward when it comes to pain..." Neko explained as he seemed to be venting a lot of information to me, and all of this was a lot to understand all at once.
"Thanks for trying to heal me, but my wounds heal by themselves almost instantly, so there was no need, I'm gonna go now. Sorry for bothering you." Neko apologized, but he didn't need to at all, he seemed really sad, and I couldn't understand why.
"Neko... I can sort of understand why you're down... But... Why ARE you so sad all of a sudden?" I asked slowly as Neko turned to face me again.
He looked to be bleeding from the eyes again, and I was ready to grab any type of towel, or cloth if necessary, but then he spoke to me again, with sadness in his voice.
"It's because you're the first person in my life that I've been able to talk to about my problems, you're the first person to actually care instead of outcasting me." Neko said, blood falling from his face, as if they were tears.
"The last time I was able to talk to some like relatively close to this was hundreds of years ago, and even then they didn't care as much as you do." Neko said, keeping a straight face as more blood fell from his face as I handed him a napkin, to which he wiped his face off.
As he was distracted, I went up to his and gave him a quick hug, making sure that he was okay on the inside, that he felt loved, that he felt like he was important.
Neko did nothing except let this happen, and when I eventually let go, he sighed a bit before turning around and walking closer to the front door.
"Thank you, Dogday... I really needed that after so long." Neko said softly as he finally smiled for the first time since I've seen him, his teeth were white as glue, and they were sharp, really sharp.
"A- Are you sure you'll be okay...? Do you need another hug for the road? And are you sure that eating that paint didn't hurt you at all?" I asked as Neko chuckled a bit.
"Yeah I'm fine, I can't be poisoned anyways, but no, I don't need another hug right now, I'll quit bothering you, it's late anyways." Neko said as he opened the door and looked outside.
"Goodbye, Dogday, may we have another talk like this again soon." Neko said as he basically teleported out of my house, sprinting at maximum velocity outside, running to who knows where.
I made sure my door was shut all the way, locked it, walked upstairs as I turned off the lights in my house, turned on my nightlight, then went to bed.
I really don't think Neko is in the right mind to be by himself, he needs someone to look out for him.
There's no way he got this far in life without someone by his side.
I'll take care of him, that, or Catnap, all I know for sure is...
I can't just leave him alone.
