(Catnap's POV)

I was in the middle of getting my sleep back, but I heard a knock at my door, and I sat up immediately, tensing up as I imagined the worst for me waiting outdoors.

I slowly made my way downstairs as I was about to reach for the doorknob, but then I heard another knock, and it sounded like Dogday knocking, so I opened the door.

And I was right, Dogday was standing there, but he looked a bit scared, tears falling from his face as he whimpered and hugged me when he saw me.

"Woah, Dogday, what's wrong?" I asked as I let Dogday in, closing the door and locking it as I hugged Dogday close to me, bringing him to the couch as I sat next to him.

I hugged him again as I gave him head pats and scratches behind his ears, calming him down before asking again.

"Dogday, why are you so scared? What's wrong?" I asked as Dogday whimpered again, wiping tears from his eyes before speaking.

"C- Catnap... I had a n- nightmare... And I couldn't fall back asleep, a- and I don't know what to do...!" Dogday whined as I patted him on the back gently, comforting him as I laid him down on the couch.

"Hey, Dogday, it's alright... It was just a nightmare... None of it was real..." I said, rubbing Dogday's belly as I gave him more scratches to make him feel better.

I genuinely felt bad for Dogday, the last time I saw him cry this much was when he tried catching a ball when Crafty and him were playing fetch.

If it weren't for Crafty being a girl, I would have ended up hurting her or something, she got off lucky, but that's all in the past.

Eventually Dogday calmed down a bit, but I continued giving him scratches, and my mind started to drift... Off track...

I lowered my hand from Dogday's belly to lower down, but I was stopped before anything else happened.

"Catnap, don't... I don't feel like it right now..." Dogday said, pushing my hand away as I sighed and got up, walking to my kitchen.

I quickly got some ice cream from the fridge and offered it to Dogday, to which he sat up and took it.

"Ice cream...? For me...? T- Thank you, Catnap..." Dogday said as he ate some of the ice cream I gave him.

"I'll be right back, just stay here, okay?" I said as walked upstairs and got some blankets and pillows from my bed, walking downstairs to see Dogday again, but this time, he was curled up, looking outside from the window, terrified.

"Dogday? What's wrong?" I asked as Dogday turned to me, breathing heavily before speaking.

"I- It's Neko! I saw him walking around outside...! H- He looked really scary! He stared right at me and smiled!" Dogday claimed as tears rolled down his face again.

I sighed as I put the blankets and pillows on the couch and ran outside, running to where I saw Neko, and he turned around to look at me.

"Oh, hi Catnap! What're you doing up so late-" Neko said as he was sharpening his claws on a tree nearby, but I cut him off my smacking him lightly.

Neko paused before looking at me, not like he was hurt, but like he was serious, and had killing intent.

"Neko, what is your problem?! Dogday just told me you stared at him through the window and smiled at him! What's wrong with you?!" I asked as Neko stared at me more.

"All I did was wave at him." Neko said, continuing to stare at me as I got a sudden chill up my spine.

"Also, I'm trying to stay calm right now, but please apologize to me, that really hurt." Neko said as I just looked at him in confusion.

"Say sorry? You scared the life out of-" I tried speaking again before I was cut off by Neko.

"Shut the fuck up and just apologize." Neko ordered as I looked at him, dumbfounded.

"...I- I'm sorry." I said as Neko turned around and walked into the darkness of the nearby forest.

He just swore... That's the first time I've felt shame like that, I don't even know what to say...

I walked back home as I shut the door and locked it again, Dogday seemed to set the blankets and pillows up by himself as he looked at me.

"H- Hey, Catnap..." Dogday said as I smiled and walked towards him.

"Hi, Dogday, I'm back for real this time, don't worry." I said as I almost immediately forgot about what just happened.

Me and Dogday cuddled, watching movies for the rest of the night, sharing ice cream.

Y'know, I'm kinda glad Dogday came over, I guess all I needed to get situated back up again was a hug from someone...
