(Dogday's POV)

Me and Catnap were outside relaxing, and while we laid under a tree in silence, Catnap eventually asked me a question.

"Hey, Dogday? You wanna climb up this tree? It's a lot more private and comfy up there..." Catnap suggested as I turned my head to look at him for a second.

"Well... I would, but I can't climb like you can... Sorry Catnap..." I explained as Catnap just giggled to himself, climbing up the tree anyways.

I was about to ask what he was doing, but he wrapped his tail around my leg and dragged me up, and into the leaves as he laid me down on a big branch.

"See? A lot more private up here, right?~" Catnap teased as I looked down, barely being able to see the ground beneath us.

I looked back at Catnap, to which he chuckled to himself and slowly crawled on top of me, laying down on my chest as he started purring.

I smiled and scratched his head as he continued purring, stretching a bit as his claws grinded against my shoulders, then going back to relaxing.

I gave him a few more scritches as I slowly began to close my eyes, peacefully listening to the nature around us, and I finally felt sort of free, now that we were high up where nobody could get us.

Although right when I got comfortable, I could have sworn I heard a door open and close, and eerily enough, it sounded like it came from my house...

"Uh... C- Catnap? You heard that right?" I asked as Catnap looked at me lovingly, yet still sort of concerned.

"Heard what?" Catnap asked as he rested his head on his hand, he seemed extra sassy, but much more loving today.

"Didn't you hear a door open just now?" I asked as Catnap thought for a second, then nodded.

"Y'know, I actually just did... Why, is that a problem?" Catnap asked me as he traced a finger down my chest, down to my stomach, tickling me a bit.

"It sounded like it came from my house..." I said as me and Catnap both heard a bunch of other doors from other houses opening.

"Oh... Looks like everyone else is coming outside." I stated as Catnap grumbled a bit.

"Aw... I was starting to get comfy..." Catnap whined as he wrapped his tail around my waist and slowly climbed down the tree with me, placing me down on the grass.

"Oh, hey there, you two! We were wondering where you were!" Crafty Corn exclaimed happily as everyone else gathered around.

"Hey, before anything else happens... Has anyone seen Neko? I'm starting to worry a bit, man..." Kicken asked slowly.

"Oh yeah! I saw him walk outside Dogday's house, he looked a bit... Weird though... His eyes were sort of dark, and they looked like they had bags under them...!" Bobby exclaimed as he pointed to my house.

"Wait, he what?!" I shouted anxiously as I dashed to my house, immediately barging inside to find Neko not where I left him.

Instead, there was a note that read the following...

"Hey, Dogday, thanks for you and Catnap's concern, but trust me, I'm fine."

"But I know you're probably gonna come home soon, so just wanted to let you know, I'm taking a stroll through the forest for a bit."

"I don't want you following me, and I don't want you to look for me, you will, and I mean will end up getting hurt."

"I'll be back soon!"

- Neko

I read the note in silence as I feared the worst for Neko, strolling along by himself in the woods... I can't have him doing that all alone...

"Hey, Dogday, Neko came back, you wanna come say hi?" Catnap asked, cutting me out of my thoughts as I turned around quickly.

"Oh, uh... Sure!" I said as I dashed out of my house, closing my door as I rushed towards the open field to see Neko sitting down with everyone else.

"So, Neko, since you're a cat and all, do you do cat-like things? Or are you more like Catnap over here...?" Bubba asked Neko as I sat down with everyone else.

"Hey!!" Catnap yelled jokingly as everyone started laughing.

"Well, I'm not fully cat, but I'll say... I sure do act like one... At least, from what others told me back then..." Neko stated as everyone gasped almost at the same time.

"So... Does this catch your attention by chance?" Crafty Corn asked slowly as she revealed a ball of yarn, and held it in her hand.

Neko stared at the ball, and I should have expected this, but his pupils dilated almost immediately.

Crafty gasped a bit as she held the ball out for Neko, to which he swatted it a bit, then grabbed it as he almost immediately went feral with it, scratching and nibbling it.

Everyone started laughing and having a good time as we all tried different things, like catnip, scratching posts, maybe seeing if he would react to scritches, and anything else you could think of.

At first I was sort of disappointed to hear everyone coming out today, but in the end...

Maybe it wasn't that bad...!
