(Catnap's POV)

I don't know what I'm doing... I made all of that random stuff up!

I was hoping Dogday would continuously try to stop me, but he actually listened to me this time!

Of all the times he decides to be stubborn, why does he all of a sudden want to listen to me now?! I don't know what I was even thinking when I said any of that back there!

I was making it up as I spoke, but to be honest, all of that did seem pretty believable...

But I can't back down now... Especially if Neko finds me again, if he knows I'm backing out of apologizing to him, who knows what the guy will do to me...

I walked through the forest more and more as I pondered on, thinking about what I would say, what Neko would think, and if he would even forgive me...

If he didn't, I would either have to awkwardly walk back in silence, or I would just die right here, either of which I didn't want to happen.

I walked past a tree that didn't look that off to me, but then I caught a glimpse of what looked to be a tail, it was white, like Neko's, and it was hanging from the leaves.

I slowly climbed up the tree as I saw Neko sitting on a branch, sleeping as his breathing was raspy, and as Dogday told me before, his eyes did actually seem to be gone.

"Go away." Neko said with a raspy voice that echoed in his head, strange...

"H- Huh? How did you know I was here?" I asked as I was 100% sure I was silent when I went up here.

"I said go away, I'm asking as nice as I can..." Neko pleaded as his body was no longer limp, but he was crossing his arms and looking down.

I couldn't help but just sit there for a moment before Neko spoke up again, and I'll be honest, I'm surprised the guy didn't start yelling at this point.

"What are you waiting for? A kiss? If that's what'll make you leave, I'll take that risk." Neko joked, but at this point, I couldn't tell what was a joke and what wasn't.

"N- No, it's just... I'm really sorry for what I did, I should have had better judgement...-" I mumbled as Neko knocked on the wood with his foot to silence me.

"Yadda yadda yadda... I should have had better judgement, I shouldn't have done this and that...!" Neko mocked me as his voice was still raspy, but getting clearer.

"...B- But anyways, I just want to say I'm sorry, I knew something was up when you tried explaining that one condition to me, and I should have paid more attention to your words..." I explained as Neko sighed.

"Attention, THAT'S the one thing I strive for everyday." Neko mumbled as I immediately perked my head up in interest.

"Attention? You want attention? I never knew...!" I exclaimed as Neko continued sitting in silence.

"I used to have a... I guess you could say "Owner" before." Neko said, dropping a mental bomb out of nowhere.

"A- An owner? Like... Someone took care of you?" I asked as Neko nodded a bit before repositioning his beanie to look at me, still missing an eye.

"Yeah, and they gave me lots of attention, that was the one thing that made me somewhat enjoy human life." Neko explained as I listened intently.

"Other than that, I hate humans for the most part, I hate their guts." Neko mumbled as my curiosity got the better of me again.

"Why? What did humans ever do?" I asked as Neko sighed a bit before clearing his throat.

"You don't wanna know, but just know, the thing you did today..." Neko stated.

"Is really starting to make me have second thoughts of having friends here." Neko continue, making my blood run cold.

"I've tried being friendly, and I've tried to have fun, but in reality, I sacrifice my body, my mentality, and everything else in order to get... Nothing." Neko explained.

"That baseball incident broke me, I was done, I couldn't stand it anymore..." Neko explained more as I listened with sympathy.

"But... Why did you stop when Kicken told you to? You spared me..." I asked as Neko sat in silence for a second.

"Because I realized that I still need to control myself, a baseball shouldn't be the thing that makes me go back to who I once was." Neko mumbled as we both sat in silence.

"That's all I'm telling you, now go away, leave me alone..." Neko scoffed as he lowered his head, covering his face with his beanie as he held himself in his arms.

Without taking a second thought, I opened my mouth and breathed out some red smoke, making Neko immediately become worried.

"Oh you son of a-" Neko tried countering me, but he blacked out and fell into my lap, his head resting on my shoulder.

I patted his head before climbing down the tree with him, holding him in my arms as I walked along the path back to the neighborhood.

Dogday would have quite the surprise waiting for him, that's for sure...
