Kara let Lena lead her into the ballroom where the gala was being held people were already in there mingling. Kara could see Alex, Sam, and Lucy along with some other people she met in passing. Lucy met Kara's eyes letting them fall over the blondes body quickly before they landed on her hands, only to see that she was holding hands with Lena. Scoffing at this Lucy strutted over to the blonde and began talking to her. "You look beautiful Kar! How bout I get us some drinks!" Lucy suggested. Kara didn't respond right away instead she looked at Lena. "Actually drinks sound good, don't they Lee! Want to go get some with me?" Kara asked.

Lena looked at Kara with love in her eyes as she said a quick 'yes' before heading off to the bar and ordered some drinks for them both. "Haven't even been here a full minute and already Lucy's trying to get into my pants..." Kara groaned as she sipped her drink. Lena almost choked on her drink hearing that statement come from Kara's lips. "Is she always like that?" Lena asked. "Most of the time. It's worse after she's been drinking a while though." Kara replied as Lena linked arms with the blonde as they began mingling.

"Oh Lena! And who do we have here? Who is this arm candy?" A tall lanky man with a thick British accent asked as he approached them. "Jack! This is my friend Kara Danvers. Kar, this is Jack Sphere, he's an old business associate of mine." Lena explains as her arm now goes from locking into Kara's to wrapping around the blondes waist pulling her close to her side. "It's nice to meet you Jack." Kara said shaking the mans hand quickly. "Well I'll let you two ladies continue your mingling." Jack replied with a half smile.

"Arm candy?" Kara asked as soon as he was out of ear shot. "Oh hush..." Lena teases as they continue talking to people. Meanwhile in the corner of the room drinking her fifth or sixth glass of scotch stood Lucy Lane. Grumbling under her breath as she watched Lena parade Kara around the room introducing her to all the rich snobs made her stomach turn in knots. "She will be mine...by the end of tonight I'll have Kara to myself." Lucy sneered as she sauntered back over to the bar.

About an hour later Kara and Lena had finished mingling and it was now time for Lena to make her welcome speech. Kara stood up by the stage watching the green eyed beauty thank everyone for coming and asking them not to forget to make hefty charitable contributions to the many charities listed around the room. After the speech the food begins making an appearance so Lena quickly snatches Kara to walk around again, this time to eat some appetizers. "This food is absolutely amazing Lee!" Kara stated as they took pause to people watch in a quiet area of the room. "I'm glad someone's enjoying it. I wish everyone else would stuff their faces and quit babbling on about crap." Lena replied in a hushed tone.

A few minutes later Alex comes over to them and makes an excuse to get Kara alone for a moment giving Lena a knowing look. "I'll be right back Lee." Kara replies as she walks off with Alex. Seeing this Sam makes a beeline for Lena and begins talking to her. "Sooo....are you gonna do it now?" Sam asks. "Yes. Let's go get stuff set up." Lena states as she and her CFO disappear from the room.
