*** Your POV ***

You were up in your room reading, when you felt the familiar shift deep in your insides. It felt like going through a rotating door and being flung into the next one. The sensation was usually something matter of fact, just another chapter in a long list of chapters that have all started to blur together. Not this time though, this time it filled you with absolute dread. Alastor's pleas to not leave him started ringing in your ears and you felt awful, you didn't know where you were going to be brought, never mind if you would be allowed visitors. You didn't even know when they were going to come for you.

In response you slammed your book shut, and bolted out of your room, smashing the door on the way out. You ran down the hall beating on the elevator buttons, but it wasn't coming fast enough so you ran down the stairs instead, tumbling and skipping down steps until you basically body checked the door to the main lounge. You looked around but to your dismay Alastor was no where to be seen, so you yelled to Husker who was as always at the bar.

"Husk. HUSK! Where is Alastor?"

"He went out to the garden a  few minutes ago." He looked up to see your panicked expression - considering your usual demeanor this was concerning, "Is everything alright?"

You didn't answer but instead you turned on your heels and ran towards the back of the hotel at full speed. When you got the door that lead towards the garden you had to fiddle with the doorknob in frustration but eventually it burst open and you lunged out seeing Alastor standing below the trellis filled with white flowers, looking up the pentagram sky. His red hair was billowing to the side, his cane clasped tightly behind his back, a relaxed smile on his face. As he heard your footsteps he turned around, his eyes relaxing further into a half lidded expression of adoration. He twirled his cane until it was in front of him, and snapped it away with his fingers, extending his arms open for you. Seeing the gesture you ripped off towards him, hitting his chest with tears streaming into your eyes.

*** Alastor's POV  ***

I was having a drink with Husker downstairs, but I was too anxious to keep sitting. I knew Lucifer was having his meeting with Paimon right at this moment, and if my deal with him paid off would hinge on it. Maybe it would have been good to find you, but I also didn't feel like I could stare you in the face knowing what's going on. So instead I opted to go out to that garden I had made for you.

My drink drained I set the glass down and made my way to the back with slow measured steps. The garden has been one of my favorite additions I made to the hotel. It felt so peaceful out here, it was really a shame that many of the residents didn't seem to care for it. That didn't really matter though as you enjoyed it, and that was why I put it here in the first place. Any minute now I should know if I would be able to take you beyond it to the sprawling city in front of us. And If I could tell you how I feel, make these feelings inside of me part of reality. I haven't dared to, too afraid of the deal not working.

One minute passed. Two minutes passed. I stood there, looking at the red pentagram sky. And then, just as when my heart was about to drop in disappointment I felt it. The familiar feeling that echoed through my body, reminiscent of a coin being inserted into a jukebox. A new soul being added to my possession. I've had quite a few fall into my hands, but none did I anticipate quite like this. Husker's soul felt hollow like an empty bottle. Nifty's buzzed like a bee hive. But yours was both as sad as it was bright, as tranquil as it was ever moving. It fell like a precious pearl, and settled deep in my core. I could feel the rips and tears in it, that showed that you have been hurt deep to your core before. Well, never again.

I heard the door fly open and turned around to see your tear stricken face. Immediately I moved to free my hands, hoping you would come into my arms. To my delight you obliged running straight for me and slamming into my chest, not that it made me so as move an inch.
